Description (EN):

The SKATE project, an acronym for Skills, Knowledge, Attitude, Training, and Experience on a Cross-Border Level, represents a collaborative initiative between LP1SC13- Secondary School no. 13 from Botosani, Romania, and PP2GED- Public Institution “Grigore Vieru” Secondary School of Edinet, Republic of Moldova. The SKATE project addresses a common challenge in both education systems, which face issues such as outdated infrastructure, insufficient resources, and the need for modernization. Quality education, equal access, the digital divide, teacher training, language of instruction, inclusive education, and the transition to the labor market are shared concerns. The overall objective of the SKATE project is to enhance the teaching of key competences in Botosani and Edinet within a 16-month timeframe. The project aims to create two SKATE rooms, one in each location, equipped to facilitate immersive learning experiences for students. Additionally, 40 teachers (20 RO, 20 MD) will be trained in key competence pedagogy, fostering cross-border collaboration and knowledge exchange. The expected change is a significant improvement in the quality of education, infrastructure, technology access, skills development, and community engagement in both regions. The SKATE project encompasses a complex set of activities tailored to enhance education in Botosani and Edinet. In each of the partner schools, the project will establish mirrored innovative SKATE Rooms, featuring 8 focus corners dedicated to key competences, equipped with essential furniture, technological infrastructure and teaching resources to create an engaging learning environment. The EDUKEY training program for teachers, conducted in hybrid formats in both cities, will empower teachers with innovative teaching methodologies aligned with the project's goal of enhancing key competences. The training will include 8 sessions, each dedicated to one of the key competences, fostering interactive and collaborative learning. Advancing Competences through Workshops for Students (ACE) in BT and ED will transform the SKATE Rooms into dynamic hubs for skill development. 8 workshops, each on a specific key competence, aim to instill essential skills and positive attitudes in students. Facilitated by trained teachers, these workshops will ensure a personalized learning experience for 25 student participants each. The TEACH (Teachers' Exchange and Collaboration Hub) events in Botosani and Edinet will provide a platform for 40 teachers (20 RO, 20 MD) to exchange experiences, insights and actions gained from the training and workshops. These events will also foster intercultural experiences, lay the groundwork for future collaborations. The Cross Border EXPLORE initiative will introduce an Open Educational Resources (OER) platform. This platform, to be launched in a festive hybrid event attended by stakeholders from both regions, will offer interactive online services for teachers, students, parents, and collaborators. EXPLORE will enhance key competence development through dynamic, self-paced learning experiences and community engagement. The platform administration will be handled collaboratively. The main outputs of the SKATE project include the capacity of SKATE rooms to accommodate 150 students, the establishment of cross-border collaborations between schools, and the development of jointly crafted solutions for cross-border education. These tangible outcomes contribute to broader results, such as annual usage of new or modernized educational facilities by 800 individuals, two collaborating organizations across borders, and the adoption or upscaling of solutions, particularly the EXPLORE Open Educational Resources (OER) platform. The beneficiaries encompass students, teachers, and parents in both Botosani, Romania, and Edinet, Moldova, contributing to a more enriched educational experience. The SKATE project adopts an innovative approach, exemplified by the EXPLORE platform, that serves as a dynamic OER hub, offering multimedia-based e-learning technologies and personalized learning experiences. The project introduces a cross-border exchange of experiences between teachers, promoting mutual learning and cultural enrichment. Furthermore, the project's sustainable "train the trainer" model facilitates widespread knowledge dissemination, leaving a lasting impact on the education sector. The cross-border/transnational/inter-regional approach is imperative for addressing multifaceted challenges in education. The SKATE project introduces several innovative elements, notably the EXPLORE platform, that goes beyond being a static resource hub. It fosters interaction among students, teachers, and parents. Besides EXPLORE, the cross-border exchange of experiences establish a unique model for mutual learning and cultural exchange, that can create vivid professional networks and collaborative partnerships.

Expected Achievements (EN):

Developing school accessible infrastructure to enhance the teaching of key competences in Botosani and Edinet in the 16 months of the project. Within the project we will create 2 SKATE rooms, one in Botosani and one in Edinet, with equipment, furniture and materials dedicated for the teaching of the 8 key competences. Then we will train 40 teachers (20 RO, 20 MD) in the field of teaching key competences and they will also have the opportunity to exchange experience. on each side of the border we will organize 8 workshops (one for each competence) to be attended by 400 students (200 RO, 200 MD). Using the results of the project activities, we will create a digital platform with open educational resources that will be piloted by the participants of the project and then the access will be offered free of charge to all the educational actors interested.
