The Hungarian-Serbian cross-border region is traditionally well suited for high value-added, sustainable agriculture, but studies and statistics of recent years show that three key factors are missing for the region's agricultural sector to flourish: 1) quality adult training courses, 2) up-to-date, skilled workforce and 3) the presence of the technological achievements in agri-digitalisation. SAGITTA aims to bring about change in these areas by introducing 3 new courses to the vocational training and adult education repertoire of the region. In line with Objective 2.1, by launching inclusive training programmes in various forms and lengths, a larger number of the region's population will be provided by access to quality education and lifelong learning. Within the project, the partners exchange knowledge and jointly develop inclusive adult training materials in natural resources conservation, agri-digitalisation and viticulture-winegrowing, which, to ensure reciprocity, will be translated, adapted and educated on both sides of the border, enabling interoperability for participants and transferability for training institutions. The development of modern, digital curricula in these topics fills significant gaps in the region's and local vocational and adult training portfolio, contributing to strenghtening human and cultural values. SAGITTA places strong emphasis on both theoretical and practical education. By digitalising the educational materials and incorporating innovative AR and e-solutions, the project fosters resilience for distance and online education as well. To create the right educational environment and provide the participants with even more exclusive access to quality adult education, the PPs also upgrade their educational toolkit by purchasing advanced technology for practical training and develop accessible educational infrastructure on both sides of the border. The aim of the infrastructure improvements is to provide educational and practical venue for long-term adult training for participants on and from both sides of the border.These activities also induce green and digital skill improvement, providing the participants with better employment opportunities in the region. To promote training programmes and the innovative technologies, PPs will address the target groups via an extensive communication campaign consisting of online promotion, in-person information events, professional programmes, study visits, open days, wine-marketing activities, promotional videos and scientific publications. SAGITTA is expected to have significant strategic CB impact, as the new training opportunities in shortage occupations contribute to reducing outmigration, since the completers of trainings will be able to work as high added value professionals in an environment close to their home/region. SAGITTA also creates the necessary conditions to stimulate the currently less active agricultural sectors, contributing to a micro/macro-economic recovery.

Expected Achievements (EN):

Expected results of SAGITTA are new training materials applicable for in-person and online education, state-of-the-art assets and education facilities featuring advanced infrastructure for 3 new adult training courses available in Hungarian and Serbian, in both countries.The 3 new educational programmes will be introduced to the target groups in the second year of the project, adapted into adult and vocational training courses in different length and format. During the project implementation, 532 participants will take part in training, with a min. 400 people expected to complete the trainings.Trainings will also continue after the project on both sides of the border:the upgraded buildings in Senta and Mórahalom, and the container classrooms in Čenej and Stara Moravica will continue to serve as training sites applicable for theoretical and practical education after the project. Operation and maintenance of the newly renovated and equipped buildings in Senta and in Mórahalom, and the containers will be undertaken by PSN and LGM.2 vehicles will be purchased and remain in the possession of PSN, and AAC will purchase 1 bus for transporting students.PPs will be responsible for capitalisation and ensuring the durability of the results:PSN to publicate research results, FEP and LGM to disseminate the studies, LGM to involve participants of the trainings in practice to maintain and cultivate the regional wine brand and FEP and AAC to continue to maintain the mobile applications.Main outcome of the upgraded training facilities will be appropriate conditions for quality education and equal access for the target groups.The region will be provided with skilled labour,initiating a boost in the regional agricultural development. As a result of communication, capitalisation and awareness raising activities, adult education will become more popular in the region, stimulating interest among people interested and active in agriculture, also attracting participants from other regions.

Contribution to wider strategies and policies:

SAGITTA, via promoting equal access to quality education and jobs in agriculture, is closely aligned with the 10 key objectives of the EU’s Common Agricultural Policy.The activities also build on the goals of PA9 “People and Skills” of EUSDR, focusing on objectives 2 Digitalisation and Innovation, 5 Quality and Efficiency of Education and Training Systems, 6 Relevant and High-Quality Knowledge, Skills and Competences and 8 Inclusive Education, Equity, Common Values and Sustainable Development. The project objectives build upon the European Pillar of Social Rights promoting quality and inclusive education, life-long learning and social inclusion and harmonise with the UN’s 4, 9, 12 SDGs. As there is a strong correlation between agriculture and environment, when designing the project, the relevant EU (Green Deal, 8th Environmental Action Programme, EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030) and national-level strategies’ priorities on biodiversity and climate change have been taken into account. SAGITTA also harmonises with national and regional development strategies: the project goals correspond the ambitions of the National Development and Territorial Development Concept of HU, Digital Agricultural Strategy of HU placing strong emphasis on precision agricultural production, the Territorial development programme of Csongrád-Csanád County 2021-2027, the Industrial Policy Strategy 2021-2030 of the RS and the Smart Specialisation Strategy 2020 to 2027 of RS on establishing proper technical and social infrastructure to ensure efficient and sustainable agricultural production, carried out by professional labour. SAGITTA intends to achieve these goals via the launch of new adult educational programmes in agriculture and the valorisation of local resources, thus creating European added value and ensuring the regional transition to smart and green agricultural production. SAGITTA also builds on the PPs’ previous projects and the results of the HUSRB/1903/43/0073 EDUWINE project.
