- BRE
- (Programme 2014 - 2020 Interreg IPA CBC Italy - Albania - Montenegro)
- (EN) | The BRE project is recognized as a “capitalisation leader,” which has guided the BRESTAT initiative to capitalise on its outcomes and extend its reach. Details as follows:
- - BRESTAT will continue the methodological approaches of BRE, focusing on the harmonisation of business statistics across involved countries. This continuity will ensure that the progress made in BRE can be effectively scaled and adapted for new challenges.
- - By using the data from the business registries set up during the BRE project, BRESTAT will address emerging questions related to business performance, employment, and economic structure in the involved countries. This will support both public policy-making and business decision-making.
- - BRESTAT will engage national statistics institutes (P5 and P6) to work on harmonising data collection and analysis methods, which are crucial for Albania and Montenegro as they progress toward EU membership.
- - The project will facilitate the exchange of best practices among partners, such as the use of Italy’s statistical tools like the “Seismograph” for economic analysis, and methodologies from projects like the “Telematic Commodity Exchange” managed by P2.
- - BRESTAT includes capacity-building activities to strengthen the skills of local statisticians and institutional staff in handling complex statistical tasks and IT systems, aligning with EU standards. This will not only harmonise practices across borders but also foster deeper integration with EU statistical frameworks.
- - The creation of a digital platform for cataloguing businesses in Albania and Montenegro that involve Italian partners will provide a new tool for fostering CB business collaborations and economic development.
- These synergies and actions not only build on the success of the BRE project but also aim to achieve sustainable impacts through enhanced statistical capabilities and informed economic policies in the South Adriatic region. (EN), Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) (EN) | The BRESTAT project, aimed at enhancing business statistics and cross-border collaboration between Italy, Albania, and Montenegro, can synergize effectively with the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) to maximise its impact. By leveraging EEN's extensive network and expertise, BRESTAT can support the internationalisation of SMEs through joint workshops and training sessions that help businesses understand market dynamics, regulatory requirements, and cross-border opportunities. In digitalization, BRESTAT's goal of creating a digital platform for cataloguing companies aligns with EEN’s provision of tailored digital solutions, fostering innovation. EEN’s specialisation in business partnering and networking can be used to identify potential partners and facilitate collaborations, promoting economic ties based on the business registry. Additionally, EEN’s services in identifying and applying for EU funding can complement BRESTAT’s objectives by providing SMEs with guidance on accessing EU funds, particularly for projects supporting statistical harmonisation and cross-border economic activities. Joint initiatives with EEN, such as funding workshops, can help SMEs navigate application processes and meet compliance requirements, thereby boosting their growth and competitiveness. (EN), European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs) (EN) | By aligning with European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIHs), BRESTAT will access technical expertise and utilise the Digital Maturity Assessment tool to benchmark and improve the digital capabilities of business registries in Albania and Montenegro, ensuring alignment with EU standards.
- EDIHs provide technical expertise and testing facilities that can be leveraged by BRESTAT to ensure the digital transformation of the business registry systems in Albania and Montenegro. This will enable BRESTAT to access cutting-edge technology and best practices in digital integration.
- BRESTAT can benefit from the training and skills development programs offered by EDIHs to enhance the capabilities of its stakeholders in data management and statistical analysis.
- The creation of a digital platform for cataloguing companies will be integrated with EDIH services, offering SMEs comprehensive support for digital innovation and competitiveness.
- (EN), Smart Adria Blue Growth
- (Interreg IPA Italy-Albania-Montenegro Programme)
- (EN) | The BRESTAT project will leverage synergies with the Smart Adria Blue Growth initiative by focusing on complementary objectives in CB cooperation, data-driven decision-making, and economic growth. Both projects emphasise the importance of using data to inform policy-making and support SMEs, particularly by aligning statistical methods and creating common frameworks for economic analysis. The focus on harmonising business statistics in BRESTAT will benefit Smart Adria Blue Growth’s objective of supporting blue economy sectors, enabling more informed decisions based on accurate economic data.
- Given that both the Chamber of Commerce of Tirana and Unioncamere Puglia are partners in both Smart Adria Blue Growth and BRESTAT, there are several strategic opportunities and synergies that can be leveraged to enhance the impact of both projects and ensure effective utilisation of resources:
- The network of stakeholders involved in Smart Adria Blue Growth, including universities, industries, and government bodies, could be a valuable resource for BRESTAT when building its CB statistical and economic databases.
- BRESTAT can capitalise on the findings and networks developed by Smart Adria Blue Growth to better understand the business landscape in blue economy sectors. This integration can aid in mapping cross-border companies and enhancing economic data relevant to the blue economy, particularly in areas like maritime transport logistics and specific supply chains.
- BRESTAT’s WP3 on capacity building could integrate insights from Smart Adria Blue Growth’s experience in creating virtual “blue laboratories” and supporting SMEs.
- To prevent overlap, BRESTAT will focus on broader economic sectors, while Smart Adria concentrates on blue growth. BRESTAT will build on Smart Adria’s work by extending the focus from blue economy-specific growth to a comprehensive economic perspective involving varied industries across the three countries. (EN), SP 3.2 Short Term Statistics (EN) | "As mentioned in section 1.6 of the document, INSTAT is the beneficiary of the regional Programme IPA 2022 Multi-Beneficiary, in which SP 3.2 Short Term Statistics is one of the statistical projects. INSTAT will ensure that there is no overlap with the activities of the BRASTAT project.
- The expected results from SP 3.2 Short Term Statistics under IPA 2022 MBP statistical cooperation programme are as follows:
- - Fulfilment of including other activities that mostly affect the services turnover, so improving coverage for Service in compliance with the requirements of the EBS regulation.
- - Preparation of a correspondence table from NACE Rev. 2 to NACE Rev. 2.1, attached to explanatory notes detailing what each NACE Rev. 2.1 position covers.
