Description (EN):

The project concerns the cooperation of the local governments of three health resort towns: Gołdap (Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship), Augustów (Podlasie Voivodeship) and Druskininkai (Alytus District), as well as Suprasl and Birštonas (as associated partners)in order to build a long-term partnership and sustainable development of the Polish-Lithuanian border based on a joint health resort brand. The task is consistent with priority 2 of the Programme, including specific objective 2.2. Enhancing the role of culture and sustainable tourism in economic development, social inclusion and social innovation. The activities proposed in the project are consistent with the types of activities specified in the Program and concern the creation of a common brand of the border area as an attractive destination for health tourism and the development of the potential of health resort towns based on the natural, cultural and historical heritage. The main products that will be developed as part of the project are: 1) creating a strong, recognizable brand of health resorts on the Polish-Lithuanian border by developing a coherent and common "Strategy for the brand and promotion of health resorts on the Polish-Lithuanian border", 2) implementation of joint, comprehensive promotional projects in to implement the brand of border health resorts, 3) creation of publicly available health resort infrastructure in three partner cities. The project's products will benefit residents of the Polish-Lithuanian border, including tourism organizers and local entrepreneurs associated with the tourism and spa-related industries, local governments and non-governmental organizations, as well as health resorts clients and tourists. So far, there has been a lack of joint cross-border initiatives on the Polish-Lithuanian border in terms of cooperation and promotion of the heath resort potential of the area. Meanwhile, health tourism is an intensively developing field of the economy that allows the development of tourist, cultural and many other services, which is important all year round, which is important in the context of reducing seasonal dependence. The area covered by the project is included in strategic documents at the local, regional and national levels, both on the Polish and Lithuanian sides, therefore the cooperation initiative undertaken by the partners in order to more effectively use the existing potential of health resorts is particularly important. The project was initiated due to the following reasons: health care, treatment with mineral waters, climatotherapy are the main parts of the image of Goldap, Augustow and Druskininkai health resorts, however, natural resources and public tourism infrastructure are not fully used for the development of tourism potential. Complexity problem. Tourist attraction objects in 3 resorts have to be developed in harmony with existing infrastructure and form integral service complex for tourists, since in one place tourists could be able not only to have fun, and see various objects, monuments, etc., but also to get healthy and rest. Diversity of tourists‘ needs. In order to maintain existing tourists‘ flows and attract new tourists it is necessary offer a variety of public tourism infrastructure in 3 bordering resorts. This will be the first cooperation project of this type between health resort towns in the Polish-Lithuanian border area, which will certainly have a positive impact on increasing the competitiveness of the entire area. The planned activities in the project will contribute to strengthening cross-border cooperation of partners, developing health resorts on the Polish-Lithuanian border, as well as creating a competitive brand of health tourism in the area.

Actual Achievements (EN):

On March 28, 2025, Gołdap Municipality signed a Subsidy Contract with the Ministry of the Interior of the Republic of Lithuania. On April 28, 2025, in Gołdap, the partners: Lead Partner, PP2, PP3, and PP4 signed the Project Partnership Agreement. On May 15, 2025, the partners participated in the official launch ceremony of the strategically important Interreg VI-A Programme projects in Druskininkai. After signing the relevant contracts and agreements, the partners initiated their activities planned within the project. The partners focused on promoting and informing the community about the project, through their information channels. A solid foundation has been prepared for the implementation of the next stages of the project. The partners not only established strong organizational foundations, but also launched active promotional and information activities, which enables better coordination of activities between municipalities on both sides of the border and strengthens cooperation for effective project activities. LP 1: WP1, Activity 1.1 Preparation of the document ,,Strategy for the brand and promotion of health resorts on the Polish-Lithuanian border" Preparations for the announcement of a public procurement procedure. WP 2, Activity 2.1 Construction of an amphitheater in the Zdrojowy Park in Goldap A public procurement procedure was carried out for the development of a concept and design documentation for an amphitheater in the Zdrojowy Park in Gołdap. The procedure has been completed, the contract has been concluded, and we present the expenditure in this report. PP 4: Activity 1.7: The Culture Center in Gołdap is preparing an event:"Breath for health. Gołdap Festival" (Odetchnij Na Zdrowie. Gołdap Festiwal". The festival will take place in Gołdap on July 11-13, 2025. During the reporting period, promotion and information about the event was implemented.

Interreg international project no. LT-PL-LR-034 " Friendship Parks 2" . The project's total budget EUR 998,186.43, of which EUR 848,458.46 financed from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) (EN) | The project was implemented in partnership between the Gołdap Municipality and the Lithuanian city of Sakiai. The project concerned tasks related to the promotion of health and a healthy lifestyle. It included comprehensive tasks. These were investments in both cities. A public recreation zone was created in Gołdap - the area was developed into a playground for children and teenagers and a mini golf course. A number of tasks related to health promotion were also organized, such as medical examinations conducted in schools, corrective gymnastics classes and educational activities. Joint promotional and information materials were developed and outdoor events were organized in Gołdap. The newly proposed task is a complement and continuation of the tasks undertaken at that time. The investment planned in the new project will be located in the spa district on Lake Gołdap, in close proximity to the recreation area created as part of the "Friendship Parks 2" project. These will be elements that will complement the entire space in which facilities related to health resort services are concentrated. The Gołdap Municipality gained a lot of experience from the previous project and will be able to share best practices in the new project. (EN), Cuisine Fragrant with Tradition (EN) | The project was implemented in partnership with the Tourist and Business Information Center in Druskininkai. The main goal of the project was to create a new tourist product while preserving the cultural heritage of the region. (EN), Cross-Border Tourism Infrastructure (EN) | Development of Cross-Border Tourism Infrastructure through the Renovation of the Natural Physiotherapy Park in Druskininkai and the Sigismund Augustus Market Square in Augustów. The project in Augustów included: Renovation of internal alleys and sidewalks around the park at the Zygmunt August Square, Installation of small architectural objects in the park, installation of 2 info kiosks, organization of the "Dni Druskininkai in Augustów" festival, Participation in the "August Days" festival in Druskininkai, conference summarizing the implementation of the project. (EN), Development of cross-border infrastructure and cultural cooperation in Druskininkai and Augustów (EN) | The project was implemented by the Augustów City Hall, the Druskininkai local government, the Augustów Cultural Centers and the Youth Center in Druskininkai. 1. A conference organized in Druskininkai.

It concerns development of sustainable tourism, based on cultural and natural heritage, in particular the health resorts towns potential, which stimulates the development of the border region.
The activities that will constitute the project are consistent with the activities referred to the Program Document, i.e.: development of joint marketing strategies and their implementation, development of joint tourist routes and products and services, joint events, sustainable development of heritage , including intangible assets for the needs of sustainable tourism, culture, introduction of new technologies and digital solutions. It assumes cross-border cooperation, exchange of experiences and best practices, joint, thoughtful and lasting actions to meet common challenges and promote sustainable development. Project addresses the EU Strategy Policy Area 'Health' - improving and promoting the health of people in the BS region, incl. social aspects of health. A healthy population in the BSR is a prerequisite for productivity, economic competitiveness and further development. Improving health and well-being of people in the BSR, PA 'Health" contributes to the objective of increasing prosperity in the region. Project's overall objective is promoting physical and emotional well-being for elders in the cross-border region.
PA Tourism aims to reinforce the macro-region's cohesiveness through tourism. Actions include facilitating networking and clustering of tourism stakeholders, strengthening their tourism-related project initatives and activities. Aims to mobilise the full potential for sustainable tourism in the BSR by facilitating coordination with stakeholders through joint actions, workshops and communication.

Similarly to the next goal - a unique natural environment - which involves supporting the development of green infrastructure (e.g. city parks).
What should be emphasized in the Strategy of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship is the main specializations of the voivodeship. "Healthy life" - this is a smart specialization of the region, which was adopted by the board of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship in August 2022, which includes, among others: spa services, products and services related to health prevention and the promotion of a healthy life.
Other The project is consistent with the document "Development Strategy of the Podlaskie Voivodeship 2030". This strategy is included in:
operational objective 1.3 local entrepreneurship, which involves supporting the development of tourism based on, among others, natural values, cultural heritage and local tourist products and supporting the development of spa services, as well as operational objective 1.5 e-Podlaskie, which concerns the use of digital technologies to improve competitiveness in business activities, including tourism. The project's assumptions are also consistent with objective 2.2. active residents, which refers to supporting activities promoting the acquisition and implementation of the idea of a healthy lifestyle, as well as goal 2.3 high-quality space, which refers to the development of infrastructure. For operational purposes 3.3. in the Podlaskie Voivodeship strategy, it is international and supra-regional, including the development of cross-border cooperation.
