Productie-KMO’s (mKMO’s) staan op een kantelpunt. Terwijl velen nog worstelen met Industrie 4.0, gericht op automatisering en datagedreven technologie, dient Industrie 5.0 zich al aan. Dit nieuwe paradigma integreert Industrie 4.0 met mensgerichtheid, duurzaamheid en veerkracht. Voor KMO’s is deze transitie bijzonder uitdagend: beperkte middelen en expertise maken het moeilijk om geavanceerde datasystemen en duurzaamheidsoplossingen te integreren. De mensgerichte aanpak van Industrie 5.0 biedt echter kansen voor betere aanpassing door KMO’s. Duurzaamheidsdata is een belangrijk en urgent aspect van de Industrie 5.0-transitie. De mogelijkheid en flexibiliteit om de juiste (formaat van) duurzaamheidsdata aan te leveren is een uitdaging. Voor mKMO’s die grensoverschrijdend actief zijn, is dit nog complexer door de (voortdurend veranderende) regelgeving per regio (bv. CSRD, stikstofregels, waterregulering). Zonder de flexibiliteit die een structurele Industrie 5.0-transformatie biedt, dreigt verlies van grensoverschrijdende handel of een steeds hogere kost om aan diverse regelgeving te voldoen. Het algemene doel van REAL is om samen met mKMO’s in de MR-regio de eerste stap te zetten richting Industrie 5.0. Industrie 5.0 is van nature interdisciplinair. Voor succesvolle adoptie in de MR-regio is het essentieel om de bestaande kennis- en innovatiesilo’s over de grenzen heen te doorbreken. In het consortium bundelen kennispartners state-of-the-art expertise. Ecosysteempartners mobiliseren mKMO’s, brengen inzichten uit het veld en vinden, betrekken en verbinden innovatiesilo’s (bv. POM Limburg, Brightlands,…). mKMO’s hebben nood aan oplossingen, niet louter technologie. Deze oplossingen zijn zeker geen “one-size-fits-all”. REAL zal Industrie 5.0-technologieën vertalen naar praktische oplossingen waarmee mKMO’s effectief aan de slag kunnen. Deze oplossingen worden gebundeld in de REAL TOOLKITS, die mKMO’s eenvoudig toegang bieden. mKMO’s hebben ook begeleiding nodig bij strategische en praktische beslissingen, want ze kunnen niet alles tegelijk veranderen. Dit wordt ondersteund via de REAL COMPASS. REAL zal de COMPASS en TOOLKITS piloten bij 16 mKMO’s en verder implementeren bij nog eens 60 mKMO’s, waardoor in totaal 76 mKMO’s rechtstreeks ondersteund worden. REAL bereikt deze aantallen via massale mobilisatie (partnernetwerk + events/comms + innovatiesilo’s), gevolgd door een implementatiestrategie die mobilisatie omzet in concrete toepassing. REAL heeft een post-projectstrategie die innovatiehubs en acceleratoren verenigt in een I5.0-netwerk. Als grensregio is de transitie naar Industrie 5.0 een nog grotere uitdaging voor de MR-industrie: grensoverschrijdende innovatie- en kennissilo’s moeten verbonden worden, en flexibele levering van diverse duurzaamheidsdata is nodig om grensoverschrijdende handel te behouden. Les PME manufacturières (mPME) sont à un tournant. Alors que beaucoup d’entre elles peinent encore avec l’Industrie 4.0, centrée sur l’automatisation et les technologies basées sur les données, l’Industrie 5.0 émerge déjà. Ce nouveau paradigme intègre l’Industrie 4.0, la dimension humaine, la durabilité et la résilience. Pour les PME, cette transition est particulièrement difficile : des ressources et une expertise limitées rendent l’intégration de solutions avancées en matière de données et de durabilité complexe. L’approche centrée sur l’humain de l’Industrie 5.0 offre toutefois des opportunités d’adaptation plus efficace pour les PME. Les données de durabilité sont un aspect majeur et urgent de la transition vers l’Industrie 5.0. La capacité et la flexibilité à fournir les bonnes données de durabilité (au bon format) représentent un défi. Pour les mPME actives à l’international, cela devient encore plus complexe en raison des différences réglementaires (en constante évolution) selon les régions (ex. CSRD, réglementation sur l’azote, réglementation sur l’eau). Sans la flexibilité qu’apporte une transformation structurelle vers l’Industrie 5.0, les mPME risquent soit de perdre des opportunités transfrontalières, soit de faire face à des coûts croissants pour se conformer aux diverses réglementations. L’objectif principal de REAL est de faire ensemble le premier pas vers l’Industrie 5.0 avec les mPME de la région Meuse-Rhin. L’Industrie 5.0 est intrinsèquement interdisciplinaire. Pour une adoption réussie dans la région MR, il est essentiel de dépasser les silos de connaissances et d’innovation qui existent actuellement entre les frontières. Dans le consortium, les partenaires académiques rassemblent une expertise interdisciplinaire de pointe. Les partenaires de l’écosystème mobilisent les mPME, apportent des retours du terrain et identifient, engagent et connectent les silos d’innovation (ex. POM Limburg, Brightlands,…). Les mPME ont besoin de solutions, pas seulement de technologie. Ces solutions ne sont certainement pas universelles. REAL intégrera et traduira les technologies de l’Industrie 5.0 en solutions concrètes et pratiques pour les mPME. Ces solutions seront regroupées dans les REAL TOOLKITS, offrant un accès facile aux mPME. Les mPME ont également besoin d’un accompagnement stratégique et pratique, car elles ne peuvent pas tout changer en même temps. Cela est soutenu par le REAL COMPASS. REAL testera le COMPASS et les TOOLKITS dans 16 mPME et les mettra en œuvre dans 60 mPME supplémentaires, soutenant ainsi directement 76 mPME. REAL atteindra ces chiffres grâce à une mobilisation massive (réseau de partenaires + événements/communication + silos d’innovation), suivie d’une stratégie de mise en œuvre transformant la mobilisation en action concrète. REAL prévoit une stratégie post-projet incluant la création d’un réseau I5.0 réunissant des hubs et accélérateurs d’innovation. En tant que région frontalière, la transition vers l’Industrie 5.0 est un défi encore plus grand pour l’industrie MR : les silos d’innovation et de connaissances transfrontaliers doivent être connectés, et une livraison flexible de données de durabilité est nécessaire pour maintenir les activités transfrontalières. Manufacturing SMEs (mSMEs) are at a turning point. While many mSMEs are still struggling with Industry 4.0, focused on automation and datadriven technology, Industry 5.0 is already emerging. This new paradigm integrates Industry 4.0, human centricity, sustainability, and resilience. For SMEs, this transition is especially challenging: limited resources and expertise make it difficult to integrate advanced data solutions and sustainability. The human centered approach of Industry 5.0 does however bring opportunities for better adaptation by SMEs. Sustainability Data is a major and urgent aspect of the Industry 5.0 transition. The ability and flexibility to supply the right (format of) sustainability data is a challenge. For mSMEs doing crossborder business, this is even more complex given the (ever changing) regulatory differences per region (e.g., CSRD, Nitrogen-regulation, water regulations). Without the flexibility created by a structural Industry 5.0 transformation, the mSME will be faced with either a loss in cross border business or an ever-increasing cost to keep up with diverse compliances. The overall objective of REAL is to take the first step towards Industry 5.0 together with mSMEs in the MR-region. Industry 5.0 is inherently interdisciplinary. For successful adoption in the MR-region, it is paramount to cut across the knowledge and innovation silos which currently exist across the borders. In the consortium, knowledge partners bring together interdisciplinary state of the art expertise. Ecosystem partners will mobilize mSMEs, provide insights from the field and find, engage and mobilize innovation silos (e.g. POM Limburg, Brightlands,…) mSMEs are in need of solutions rather than mere technology. These solutions are certainly NOT one-size-fits all. REAL will integrate and translate Industry 5.0-technologies to hands-on solutions which mSMEs can work with. These solutions will be combined into REAL TOOLKITS, giving mSMEs easy access. mSMEs also need guidance on strategic and practical decision making, a mSME cannot change everything at once. This is supported through the REAL COMPASS. REAL will pilot the compass and toolkits in 16 mSMEs and implement them further in an additional 60 mSMEs, thus directly supporting 76 mSMEs. REAL will reach these numbers by a mass mobilization (partner network + events/coms + innovation silos) followed by an implementation funnel strategy turning mobilization into implementation. REAL has a post project strategy which includes uniting innovation hubs & accelerators in an I5.0 network. As a border region, the Industry 5.0 transition is an even bigger challenge for the M-R industry: Cross border innovation & knowledge silos need to be linked, and flexible delivery of diverse sustainability data is required to keep up cross border business. Our mSMEs need the head start which the REAL project can bring to remain competitive in the near future Budget 4.53 Mio/ coordination 5% /communication 5%

Während viele von ihnen noch mit Industry 4.0 kämpfen, das sich auf Automatisierung und datengesteuerte Technologien konzentriert, zeichnet sich Industry 5.0 bereits ab. Dieses neue Paradigma integriert Industry 4.0, Menschzentrierung, Nachhaltigkeit und Resilienz. Für KMU ist dieser Übergang besonders herausfordernd: Begrenzte Ressourcen und Fachwissen erschweren die Integration fortschrittlicher Datenlösungen und Nachhaltigkeitsmaßnahmen. Der menschenzentrierte Ansatz von Industry 5.0 bietet jedoch Chancen für eine bessere Anpassung durch KMU. Nachhaltigkeitsdaten sind ein zentrales und dringendes Element des Industry 5.0-Übergangs. Die Fähigkeit und Flexibilität, die richtigen Nachhaltigkeitsdaten (im passenden Format) bereitzustellen, stellt eine Herausforderung dar. Für KMU mit grenzüberschreitender Geschäftstätigkeit ist dies aufgrund der sich ständig ändernden regulatorischen Unterschiede pro Region (z. B. CSRD, Stickstoffregelungen, Wasserverordnungen) noch komplexer. Ohne die Flexibilität, die durch eine strukturelle Industry 5.0-Transformation geschaffen wird, drohen entweder Verluste im grenzüberschreitenden Geschäft oder stetig steigende Kosten zur Einhaltung der verschiedenen Vorschriften. Das übergeordnete Ziel von REAL ist es, gemeinsam mit KMU in der MR-Region den ersten Schritt in Richtung Industry 5.0 zu gehen. Industry 5.0 ist von Natur aus interdisziplinär. Für eine erfolgreiche Umsetzung in der MR-Region ist es entscheidend, die bestehenden Wissens- und Innovationssilos über die Grenzen hinweg zu überwinden. Im Konsortium bündeln Wissenspartner interdisziplinäre Spitzenkompetenz. Ökosystempartner mobilisieren KMU, liefern Einblicke aus der Praxis und identifizieren, aktivieren und vernetzen Innovationssilos (z. B. POM Limburg, Brightlands,…). KMU benötigen Lösungen statt bloßer Technologie. Diese Lösungen sind keinesfalls „One-size-fits-all“. REAL wird Industry 5.0-Technologien in praxisnahe Lösungen übersetzen, mit denen KMU arbeiten können. Diese Lösungen werden in den REAL TOOLKITS gebündelt, die KMU einen einfachen Zugang ermöglichen. KMU benötigen zudem strategische und praktische Orientierungshilfen, da sie nicht alles tegelijk ändern können. Dies wird durch den REAL COMPASS unterstützt. REAL wird den COMPASS und die TOOLKITS in 16 KMU pilotieren und sie anschließend in weiteren 60 KMU implementieren, wodurch insgesamt 76 KMU direkt unterstützt werden. REAL erreicht diese Zahlen durch eine breite Mobilisierung (Partnernetzwerk + Veranstaltungen/Kommunikation + Innovationssilos), gefolgt von einer Implementierungsstrategie, die Mobilisierung in Umsetzung überführt. Als Grenzregion stellt der Übergang zu Industry 5.0 für die MR-Industrie eine noch größere Herausforderung dar: Grenzüberschreitende Innovations- und Wissenssilos müssen vernetzt werden, und eine flexible Bereitstellung vielfältiger Nachhaltigkeitsdaten ist erforderlich, um grenzüberschreitende Geschäfte aufrechtzuerhalten. This unique approach combines the Governance (COMPASS) and Operational implementation (TOOLKITS), thus generating an Industry 5.0 approach to the mSME need. Testing the COMPASS and TOOLKITS in real life environments together with mSMEs and showcasing the potential to other mSMEs. Updating the COMPASS and four prototyped TOOLKITS. Implementing inhouse innovations in at least 60 mSMEs extra using the REAL COMPASS and TOOLKITS The project will continue to make impact beyond the end of the project. Da sich REAL darauf konzentriert, KMU dabei zu helfen, Daten zur Steigerung von Effizienz und Nachhaltigkeit zu nutzen, kann dieses Projekt ein leistungsstarker und integrierter Wachstumstreiber sein, der mit Industrie-, Wettbewerbs-, Wirtschafts- und Handelspolitiken im Einklang steht. focusses on helping SMEs use data to boost efficiency and sustainability, this project can
be a powerful and integrated driver of growth, aligning with industrial, competition,
economic and trade policies. Healthy Citizens: Addressing challenges related to aging populations and healthcare

By supporting SMEs in these areas, STIPP aims to boost innovation, competitiveness, and
collaboration across borders.
The REAL project will be able to identify industry 5.0-related innovation projects that could be

Het project richt zich op drie strategische thema’s:
- Industriële transitie: bevordering van digitalisering, artificiële intelligentie en andere geavanceerde technologieën.
- Groene transformatie: bevordering van duurzaamheid, efficiënt gebruik van hulpbronnen en circulaire economiepraktijken.
- Gezonde burgers: aanpak van uitdagingen rond vergrijzing en innovaties in de gezondheidszorg.
Door kmo’s in deze domeinen te ondersteunen, wil STIPP innovatie, concurrentievermogen en samenwerking over de grenzen heen versterken.
Het REAL-project zal in staat zijn om innovatieprojecten rond Industry 5.0 te identificeren die door STIPP ondersteund kunnen worden. (NL), Le projet STIPP, qui signifie « SME Transition Innovation Partner Projects », fait partie du programme Interreg Meuse-Rhin. Il vise à encourager la collaboration transfrontalière entre les petites et moyennes entreprises (PME) de la région Meuse-Rhin, qui comprend des parties de la Belgique, des Pays-Bas et de l’Allemagne.
Le projet se concentre sur trois thèmes stratégiques :
- Transition industrielle : amélioration de la numérisation, de l’intelligence artificielle et d’autres technologies avancées.
- Transformation verte : promotion de la durabilité, de l’efficacité des ressources et des pratiques d’économie circulaire.
- Citoyens en bonne santé :
En soutenant les PME dans ces domaines, STIPP vise à renforcer l’innovation, la compétitivité et la collaboration transfrontalière.
Le projet REAL pourra identifier des projets d’innovation liés à l’Industrie 5.0 qui pourraient être soutenus par STIPP. Es zielt darauf ab, die grenzüberschreitende Zusammenarbeit zwischen kleinen und mittleren Unternehmen (KMU) in der Meuse-Rhein-Region zu fördern, die Teile von Belgien, den Niederlanden und Deutschland umfasst.
Das Projekt konzentriert sich auf drei strategische Themen:

Other REAL aidera les PME à capturer, gérer et exploiter les données issues de leurs processus de production, les préparant ainsi à la prochaine transition industrielle vers l’Industrie 5.0. Cela s’aligne sur les objectifs de double transition de l’Union européenne visant une économie plus numérique, durable, résiliente et compétitive. REAL stimule l’innovation et renforce la compétitivité, deux objectifs clés de la stratégie industrielle européenne.
De plus, le projet soutient l’orientation du programme INTERREG Meuse-Rhin vers des innovations plus intelligentes. En promouvant l’adoption de solutions basées sur les données, le projet améliore non seulement l’efficacité opérationnelle des PME, mais contribue également à une économie plus verte et à faible émission de carbone. Cela correspond aux priorités du programme visant à renforcer la croissance durable et la compétitivité des PME.
La capacité à gérer et à déclarer les données de durabilité permet aux PME de répondre aux exigences réglementaires, telles que celles en constante évolution dans le cadre du CSRD, du CSDDD et de la taxonomie de l’UE.
En lançant une collaboration transfrontalière sur ce sujet, le consortium REAL renforce la résilience économique de la région Meuse-Rhin. Il crée un marché plus intégré et compétitif, essentiel à la prospérité à long terme de la région et à son alignement sur les priorités de la politique de cohésion de l’UE.
Enfin, le Clean Industrial Deal récemment publié propose des actions concrètes pour faire de la décarbonation un moteur de croissance pour les industries européennes. Il affirme que les politiques de décarbonation sont un puissant levier de croissance lorsqu’elles sont bien intégrées aux politiques industrielles, de concurrence, économiques et commerciales.
