"Bee Hotel" is not a horror movie, despite it sounding scary. Many people dislike insects and find them useless, but they play a vital role in the ecosystem and can benefit farmers. Insects are essential for biodiversity as they make up 80% of all organisms on Earth. Three-quarters of leading global crops and almost 90% of wild plants depend on pollinators mainly on solitary wild bees, according to the WWF. Insect populations have plummeted in recent decades, hit by the forces of industrial agriculture. So, what is a bee hotel? These are shelters and breeding sites for wild, solitary bees that are crucial to pollination. With pollinators facing threats from habitat loss, pesticide use, and climate change, the Bee Home project aims to safeguard the role of pollinators in maintaining ecosystem health. The project has set a goal to establish 300 professionally installed bee hotels, actively engaging over 900 citizen scientists and 1200 community members in conservation activities. By enhancing habitat connectivity and promoting stakeholder engagement, the project aims to boost pollinator populations and reduce biodiversity loss. The project's innovative approach combines educational outreach, community engagement and cross-border collaboration. Through the creation of short documentary films, tabletop game, online communication platforms, cross-border public events and children's creative competitions, the project aims to foster awareness and participation in pollinator conservation efforts. The project's beneficiaries include local communities, schools, farmers, NGOs and governmental agencies, all of whom stand to gain from improved ecosystem services, enhanced biodiversity and increased resilience to environmental challenges. This project is an unprecedented attempt to tackle the alarming reduction of pollinators in our area. Through collaboration and innovation, we strive to encourage significant measures towards a sustainable future for both pollinators and people.

Expected Achievements (EN):

The aim of the project is to mitigate the degradation of agro-ecosystems and natural habitats through active conservation of pollinator species involving local communities in citizen science activities and with promotion of sustainable methods.The project's objective is in line with the program's aim of tackle environmental issues and encourage the sustainable utilization of joint natural resources and biodiversity by effective cross-border collaboration.
