PROJECT TYPE: 2 - Youth-oriented projects ~ MAIN INTERVENTION FIELD: 059. Adaptation to climate change measures and prevention and management of climate related risks: fires (including awareness raising, civil protection and disaster management systems, infrastructures and ecosystem-based approaches) ~ SUMMARY: YouthCARE 4 Planet tackles significant transnational challenges in the Mediterranean region, particularly related to climate change adaptation, risk prevention, and disaster resilience. These issues are exacerbated by the region's vulnerability to climate impacts, increasing frequency of natural disasters. By focusing on youth engagement and eco-systemic care for people and the planet, the action aims to support a new environmentally conscious generation in planning, acting, advocating and accessing decision making to drive sustainable change. Youth-led Local Adaptation Plans will be developed and implemented, through participatory decision-making and collaborative governance, to translate into reality civil society initiatives on climate adaptation and disaster risk management. Youth-led Green Actions will be supported in Italy, Tunisia, and Egypt, enhancing the resilience and environmental sustainability of local communities. Additionally, the project will facilitate local and regional networking meetings, enabling youth CSOs and networks across the Mediterranean to share best practices and collaborate. Furthermore, multimedia storytelling will be produced to inform, educate and engage the general public, particularly young people, promoting environmental stewardship. An international networking forum will also be organised, featuring a series of exchange sessions that will culminate in an international forum. By fostering a culture of environmental stewardship and providing tangible support to youth initiatives, the project will create a robust network of young environmental pioneers equipped to address the complex challenges of climate change and to voice out new and creative proposals, actions towards a more sustainable and resilient Mediterranean. ~ KEEP KEYWORDS: Education and training, Rural and peripheral development

- Establishment of environmental youth clubs in universities and schools
Total of 30 across both years for universities and 10 in schools
- Included hosting networking and knowledge development workshops - in atleast 5 governorates to bring together over 1000 students across the year to events
The current proposal will further scale up the networking events as part of the greenish clubs project, which is a long term project that aims to have smaller clubs as platforms for students to engage and advocate in environmental subjects (EN), iDebate4Engagement - Funded by the Konrad Foundation in Tunisia, the project has been operational since 2023 and is set to continue until the end of 2025. (EN) | The current proposal will scale-up and build upon the following outputs:
- Media awareness raising and advocacy campaigns realized through multimedia tools, including production od podcasts
- Creation of a youth engaging network among 12 region in Tunisia
By connecting participants from YouthCARE 4 Planet with those from iDebate4Engagement, the projects can support each other in advocacy and project development processes. This collaboration extends to media campaigns, where iDebate4Engagement's experience in podcast creation can enhance YouthCARE 4 Planet's outreach efforts. Additionally, sharing the ideas and progress of YouthCARE 4 Planet within the iDebate4Engagement network will help to broaden their impact, creating a robust network of young environmental advocates equipped to tackle the complex challenges of climate change and promote sustainable development in the Mediterranean region. INTERREG NEXT MED PROGRAMME

Initiatives like co-designed LAPs generating youth-led Green Actions directly address climate-related risks such as extreme weather events.
EUROPEAN GREEN DEAL
The project promotes sustainable development through youth-led initiatives, in line with the Green Deal’s goal of achieving climate neutrality by 2050. Engaging youth in green pilot actions and storytelling fosters a culture of environmental stewardship and innovation.
SDGs
The emphasis on climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction directly supports SDG 13 (Climate Action). Participatory mapping and LAPs empower youth to implement local solutions for climate justice; by establishing robust youth networks and fostering international collaborations, it addresses SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals); by adopting the CARE approach it addresses SDG 5 (Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls) embracing an intersectional approach and adopting gender lenses.
UFM ENVIRONMENTAL AGENDA:
The project aligns with UfM’s focus on youth engagement and capacity building. Comprehensive capacity-building components equip youths with skills in participatory planning, environmental assessment and advocacy, enhancing abilities to lead and sustain green initiatives.
ENHANCING SYNERGIES
Interdependent Knowledge Exchange: networking meetings and international forums, as well as promoting dissemination, will facilitate the sharing of best practices and innovative solutions across borders, enhancing collective impact, ensuring the sustainability and scalability of their initiatives, reinforcing the objectives of major strategies like the European Green Deal and UfM Environmental Agenda.
