PROJECT TYPE: 1 - Thematic projects ~ MAIN INTERVENTION FIELD: 029. Research and innovation processes, technology transfer and cooperation between enterprises, research centres and universities, focusing on the low carbon economy, resilience and adaptation to climate change ~ SUMMARY: EONANOBIOPS project addresses critical agricultural challenges in the Medit, specifically targeting the overuse of synthetic pesticides that harm the environment, public health, & contribute to pest resistance. Focusing on tomato crops, the project aims to revolutionize pest mgmt by developing EO-derived nano-biopesticides as an eco-friendly alternative. This innovation will significantly reduce agriculture's environmental footprint, enhance crop yield, & improve food safety EONANOBIOPS seeks to mitigate env degradation, pest resistance, & health risks by introducing biodegradable NANOBIOPS. This approach will reduce harmful pesticide residues, improve pest control effectiveness, & support healthier agric practices, leading to better tomato yields & safer food production. Key outputs include development & validation of NANOBIOPS, implementation of sustainable pest mgmt practices, & comprehensive training programs for stakeholders. Farmers & agric workers will benefit from reduced pesticide use, improved crop health, & higher yields. Local comm will enjoy safer food & a healthier environment, while agric SMEs, startups, researchers, & policymakers will gain access to new technologies & practices, fostering innovation & sust agric Rigorous EIA will ensure minimal env impact, benefiting regulators, env groups, & society at large. The project also focuses on commercial scale-up, facilitating the transition from research to full-scale production, benefiting consortium partners & startups involved in the industrialization of NANOBIOPS. This will enhance market entry, create new job opportunities in agricultural & biotech sectors, & contribute to long-term env health, economic stability, & food security By addressing these challenges & implementing innovative solutions, the project will create a more sust & resilient agricultural sector in the Medit. This biopesticides is efficient against lepidopteran larvae damaging citrus. This biopesticide could be efficient against lepidopteran larvae damaging tomato; but it cannot used to treat all tomato pathogens. EONANOBIOPS will provide solutions to treat other pathogens including fungi, bacteria and some others insects. Thanks to the pilot activities EONAOBIOPS will provides products useful in an IPM strategy targeting tomato diseases. (EN), From Next Generation Sequencing microorganisms Towards Ecofriendly Biotech based Products – NGS-4-ECOPROD (EN) | In the frame of NGS-4-ECOPROD, specific biopesticidesb will be developed. The latter cannot be used against all tomato pathogens. Thus, thanks to the pilot activities, EONAOBIOPS will provides products complementing those of NGS-4-ECOROD and useful in an IPM strategy targeting tomato protection against diseases and pathogens.
