- ATHENA PROJECT (Ancient Theaters Enhancement For New Actualities) 2009-2013 - Euromed Heritage IV Program (EN) | The ATHENA project involved partners from different countries aiming at the creation of a Euro-Mediterranean network of architectural/archaeological assets with common characteristics to set up a common and scientific cultural framework for the project, and the design and implementation of management plans. DIEM Project re-establishes collaboration among the project partners (SUR and UPV) and the selection of pilot sites with similar characteristics, designing management plans for a cultural cluster in Mediterranean countries.
- With reference to the outputs, DIEM Project will capitalize for WP4 and WP5:
- Management plan will be used as a general framework by the consortium partners. Alongside the management plan is a user manual concerning the utilization of theaters. The management plan, drafted by UPV, is the result of data sent to the Institute of Heritage Restoration of the Polytechnic University of Valencia by the member countries of the ATHENA collective, to be analyzed and put into a framework. The management plan starts with definitions and classifications of ancient theaters, parameters of a management plan, guidelines for compatible utilization, protection charters, capacity building, issues of risks and threats facing theaters, socio-economic factors, and concluding proposals. This prototype document is a referenced text that can be used by DIEM project partners, by Group A during their experience of learning and training, and as a reference for building management and communication plans for each pilot site. This manual could also be shared with public institutions and associated partners as a reference for managing the pilot cases (A 4.1.1, A.4.1.2).
- ATHENA week for the dissemination and promotion of the project on-site. The DIEM project will organize different events (one per partner country) both for partners and final beneficiaries to share project results with public administrations and entrepreneurs (A.5.2.1, A. 5.2.2) (EN), CEFEL - Public Archaeology project, funded within the framework of the ENI Italy-Tunisia Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2014-2020.CEFEL (EN) | DIEM capitalises on the results of the project in order to :
- Transferring skills within the sector of CH and creating a convergence of objectives and actions that can increase the economic and social impact of the sector. Institutions managing archaeological sites and companies already active in the sector need professional figures that are not available on the market due to the lack of adequate training programmes. They sometimes overlook market opportunities that could develop to the benefit of the context and companies do not always have the necessary skills to define innovative product/service offerings.
- The traditional systems that should enable supply and demand to meet in Sicily and Tunisia have so far failed to produce satisfactory results. The project aims to fill this gap by addressing both demand and supply. The Cefel project, as for the DIEM project, aims at the creation of a long-term outcome in the field of specialised training in CH labour market.
- DIEM project will take as a reference final beneficiaries of the Cefel project: users of archaeological sites, institutional bodies in charge of vocational training, the specialised training sector in the field of CH, universities, professional associations, managers of archaeological sites, local community and tourists.
- With reference to outputs, will be implemented :
- R.3.1 “Interinstitutional technical-scientific table” for identifying the training needs of CH management systems in WP3 (A.3.1.3, 3.3.1)
- R.3.3 “Mapping and creation of a database of companies active in the field of heritage management, training organisations active in the sector and organisations managing archaeological sites”by WP2 for the involvement of participants in WP4 training activities.
- R.5.1 “Development of project results in line with market prospects” the analysis conducted on new products and services that cultural heritage management sites can offer will be extended by WP3 and WP5 (A 3.3.1, 5.2.1, 5.2.2). (EN), DOREMIHE Projet
- Italie-Tunisie 2007/2013
- Doctorat de recherche pour la mise en valeur de l’héritage naturel et culturel.
- UNIPA ( LP)
- UNITUNIS ( PP) (EN) | DIEM project capitalises on the following results of the DO.RE.MI.HE. project, which aimed to create and develop, in the spirit of international cooperation in education, a system of academic exchanges.
- The two universities partner (UNIPA e UNITUNIS) intended to carry out a joint Advanced Training Activity on "Management and Enhancement of Natural and Cultural Heritage", addressed equally to students of Master's Degree Courses (as well as, possibly, PhD students) of both parties. This Advanced Training Activity will be recognised by both signatory institutions as an integral part of the curricular training of their students of the Study Courses involved in the agreement.
- At the cross-border level of cooperation, the DO.RE.MI.He project wanted to seize two types of opportunities, both of which are - without being circumscribed by it - the advantage of creating a common platform for the training of future researchers and exchange between scholars by focusing on the Mediterranean dimension of the issues dealt with more sharply and continuously: the usefulness of stepping out of the habit and changing point of view and noting how similar undertakings are dealt with by others, similar in cultural identity but with different situations on the sidelines.
- Specifically DIEM capitalises the “RÉSULTAT 1- “Définition d’instructions communes pour l'institution future et conjointe du Doctorat de Recherche” in wp 3 (A 3.1.1 and A 3.1.3). (EN), GREEN INNOVATION AND EMPLOYABILITY IN THE MED THROUGH THE TRIPLE HELIX.
- Commissioned by Union for the Mediterranean (Ufm) (EN) | DIEM Project will capitalize from this project:
- - Country analysis of the Italian, Jordanian, and Tunisian educational systems and their relationship with the labour market. This analysis allows us to understand that the challenge to be addressed in all the countries is the mismatch between the skills provided by university degree courses and the competencies required in the labour market. The DIEM Project takes these analyses as a starting point to propose innovative solutions in training and education systems, considering the challenges of the three countries. In particular, in Jordan, training paths are more oriented towards research rather than the direct integration of young people into the labour market. In Italy, there is a lack of networking and partnership between universities and entrepreneurship, as well as a lack of capability to transform research outputs into products and services. Tunisia has a high number of unemployed graduates due to the weak connection between universities and businesses or institutions. This output is capitalized in WP3 (A 3.1.3, A. 3.3.1) to share methodology to create a common education system.
- - Mapping of existing good practices, policies, projects, and tools in the field of study in Jordan, Italy, and Tunisia. The DIEM Project will use the list of these initiatives as a starting point to increase the employability of young people, vulnerable groups, and local communities, close the gap between labour demand and supply, foster a culture of entrepreneurship, and boost private sector development. This output is capitalized in WP4 (A 4.1.1, A. 4.2.3). (EN), BKSTONE - Higher Education–Enterprise platform for fostering,
- modernization and sustainable growth in natural
- stone industry in Western Balkans (EN) | DIEM will capitalise on BKSTONE Erasmus+ Project in terms of HEI and VET training scheme and resources. The project started in 2020 , just at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and for this reason a major challenge in terms of training modalities and digital infrastructures occurred. BKSTONE experimented e-learning solutions based on the collection of heterogeneous material (offline lectures, presentations, handbooks, animations etc.) to be gathered in an online resource centre.
- SUR will capitalise on online resources related to CH documentation and conservation being partner of the project for their development.
- In terms of BKSTONE outputs, DIEM will capitalise the following:
- ● Output 2.1. “Course Design (HEI)”. The training courses designed for this output were addressed to tertiary graduates and students connected widely to the stone heritage. This category is matching the final beneficiaries of DIEM group B and so the structure and contents of trainings could be easily replicated. This BKSTONE output will be used especially for WP5, A5.1.1.;
- ● Output 2.2. “Course Design (Tertiary VET)”. The training courses designed for this output were addressed to workers in cultural heritage and high school graduates. This category is compatible with the DIEM Group C in terms of skills to be acquired through the trainings and initial conditions. In particular, DIEM will capitalise the training programs in architectural survey and heritage conservation. This BKSTONE output will be used especially for WP4, A4.2.3.;
- Output 2.6. “Online Resource Centre”. This output was related to the gathering and sharing of all the materials supporting the training activities and will be capitalised by DIEM from two points of view. The first one is related to the contents on specific topics that can be easily reused, the second one is related to the online structure of a resource centre in terms of organisation of the database and querying modalities. (EN), BESTMEDGRAPE (with ENI CBC Program) (EN) | With ENI CBC Program, BESTMEDGRAPE: DIEM will capitalize on the methodology of Business creation set by the project BESTMEDGRAPE and aiming to support the entrepreneurship and business-related skills of youth through integrating parts of the “Bestmedgrape Business creation and entrepreneurship technical” in the layout of the trainings to be designed by DIEM for Group “C-local communities” and “B-Future managers”.
- DIEM will use the output “6.1– Pre-competitive analysis of promising products and services provided by the technology platform” of BESTMEDGRAPE project and specifically the approach of “dissemination of good practices for business creation”
- This synergy will be used to support the activities of WP4 of DIEM to help integrate relevant contents capable of providing the essential knowledge and skills to the beneficiaries of DIEM and enable them to create new projects and initiatives economically relevant around the pilot sites and disseminate the business culture needed for a better economic inclusion of the target groups.
- Additionally, DIEM project will capitalize on the “Institutional capacity building strategy” document produced by BESTMEDGRAPE, especially in the activities of the output 3.3- Institutional capacity building and knowledge transfer of sustainable inclusive heritage.
- The used ouptu will be “3.3: Institutional and business capacity enhanced” produced by BESTMEDGRAPE.
- This synergy will be created by Animed which was in charge of these activities in BESTMEDGRAPE project. (EN), TUNISIA LIVING CULTURE, funded by the USAID (EN) | Locally, Animed will bring the knowledge related to inclusive training developed in the framework of the project “Tunisia Living Cultures”, funded by the USAID, and aiming to integrate women and youth from disadvantaged regions through Cultural Heritage, by providing trainings and mentorship for the creation of innovative projects capitalizing on Cultural heritage and cultural tourism (cultural mediation, Intangible cultural heritage interpretation, cultural experiences and learning around handicrafts, etc.).
- Specifically, DIEM will capitalize on the output “2-4 building tourism experiences”, that provides guidelines about the possibilities of transforming of intangible cultural heritage elements to “business initiatives” promoted by youth and disadvantaged target groups, as well as the required needs in terms of trainings.
- Additionally, DIEM will capitalize on the output “2-5 Market readiness criteria” aiming to provide guidance for Cultural heritage entrepreneurs for structured marketing tools and online visibility capable of bridging the culture bearers with online buyers and to increase their revenues.
- This synergy will be created by Animed which was in charge of these activities in Tunisia Living Cultures project in Tunisia. (EN), SCHEP - Sustainable Cultural Heritage through Engagement of Local Communities Project,
- Funded by USAID under the American Center of Oriental Research (ACOR) (EN) | SCHEP aims to achieve effective and sustainable preservation, management and development of Cultural Heritage Resources in Jordan through an enabling environment that fosters community engagement, strengthens CHR institutions, and sustains and grows a community of practice. DIEM capitalises on the results of the SCHEP project in order to:
- - Knowledge Sharing and Capacity Building: DIEM can develop policies, strategies, and procedures for sustainable preservation, management, and development of cultural heritage resources (CHRs) in the Mediterranean region.
- - Sustainable Tourism Development: Building upon the success of the SCHEP project in improving economic stability through sustainable tourism enterprises, DIEM can work towards developing inclusive tourism products and experiences
- -Social Inclusion: DIEM can specifically target marginalised groups such as youth groups, fresh graduates, people with disabilities, and women in less-advantaged areas. By providing training, skill development, and employment opportunities related to C.H. and sustainable tourism, DIEM can empower these groups and promote social inclusion.
- - Community Empowerment: Drawing upon the community engagement strategies of the SCHEP project, DIEM can empower local communities to actively participate in the preservation and promotion of cultural heritage.
- With reference to outputs of the SCHEP project, will be implemented especially for WP4 training activities:
- - Online training programs, to build the capacity of site managers and professors, enhancing their skills in managing and preserving CHRs (A4.1.1 and A4.1.2 for group A)
- - Collaborate to design and develop a diversity and inclusion training program that includes mentoring, leadership development, and unconscious bias training (A4.2.1, A4.2.3)
- - Implement a co-led diversity and inclusion training program to ensure effective participation and leadership from diverse groups, fostering a more inclusive cultural heritage sector (A4.2.3) (EN), PE5-CHANGES, Spoke8, Restart - Rigenerazione e conservazione olistica dei siti archeologici nelle aree interne della Toscana come fattore di sviluppo locale (EN) | The project started in 2022 as part of the “Sustainability and Resilience of Tangible Cultural Heritage” of Spoke 8 del PE 5 - CHANGES and is currently in progress. The main goal is to define valorization strategies to be applied to CH sites located in remote and rural areas in Tuscany (Italy). The project proposes a new methodology to filter CH sites with the aim of selecting the ones in particular needing a valorization process and suitable for the project for their geographic, social and economic conditions. Parallely, a research activity has been conducted to identify valorization best practices in CH sites evaluating management strategies and the involvement of local communities in the valorization process (WP1). In WP3 all these preliminary analyses will lead to the drafting of guidelines for CH valorisation from financial, communication and management point of view.
- DIEM will capitalise the following deliverables:
- D1.2 “Identification of Best Practices in the Enhancement of Archaeological Sites.” To be used as case study references to analyse common strategies in CH management and share with participants successfully stories (WP4 A.4.1.1 and WP5 A.5.1.1)
- D3.1 “Guidelines for the regeneration of Restarter sites.”. The “Restart” guidelines will be used as a content for group A and B training (WP4 A.4.1.1 and WP5 A.5.1.1) (EN)
