Description (EN):

The project is aimed at solving the problems associated with the underdeveloped road infrastructure, insufficient number and poor quality of transport connections along the Polish-Ukrainian border. The state of the technical and road infrastructure hinders cross-border contacts and traffic, which in turn reduces the attractiveness of certain regions for investors and slows down the processes of socio- economic and cultural development. In general, the road infrastructure is not adapted to the needs of people traveling across the border, passenger and freight vehicles engaged in transportation, logistics companies and their contractors. The current situation with the road infrastructure has consequences that slow down the socio-economic development of the border regions, in particular, it increases travel time and delivery time of goods, increases queues at the Ukrainian-Polish border crossing points, and increases the cost of maintenance, repair and operation of vehicles. The overall objective of the project is to improve the cross-border mobility by creating innovative, climate- resilient roads, improving the quality of infrastructure in terms of safety, environmental efficiency and focusing on improving regional, national and cross-border mobility through integration with the TEN-T network. The project also focuses on increasing the capacity of road services in the border regions of Ukraine and Poland to effectively manage road facilities, including road maintenance in mountainous areas, automation and digitalization of road condition data collection and analysis. Project specific objectives: - Improve cross-border, regional, and local mobility by upgrading road infrastructure to increase accessibility and reduce travel time; - Reduce queues at Ukrainian-Polish border crossing points through a more even distribution of passenger and freight traffic; - Ensure safer road infrastructure for all users; - Enhance connectivity with the TEN-T network; - Increase accessibility to existing transport corridors. In order to solve the problems addressed by the project, the project partners will take joint actions to develop the road infrastructure connecting the border crossing points of the southern part of the Ukrainian-Polish border, as well as to increase the capacity of the project partners to carry out effective and safe road maintenance in the border area. The project includes the following activities: - Repairing works of the public road of local importance О141002 Nahirne – Dobromyl improving connection among the BCP’s Krakivets - Shegyny – Nyzhankovychi – Smilnytsia (LV,UA); - Extension of voivodship road no 890 on the section Liskowate – Krościenko as part of the task “Extension of the tourist cycle route network in the Bieszczady and its connection to the GREEN VELO cycle route” (PK,PL); - Overhaul of the national significance road H-13 Lviv-Sambir-Uzhhorod on the section km 169 + 500 - km 172 + 400 (ZK, UA); - Capital repairs of the road of local importance C091505 Herynia- Bolekhiv km 0+000- 7+368 (IF,UA); - Project promotion; - Exchange of experiences; - Project management. The project will directly increase mobility at the local, regional, and cross-border levels, contributing to improved accessibility to the TEN-T network corridors and fostering collaboration between Ukraine and Poland. The project will improve the efficiency of cross-border freight and passenger transportation by reducing travel time, reducing queues at Ukrainian-Polish border crossing points, and reducing financial losses for car and truck owners. Better utilization of existing roads and transport corridors will be achieved, and the project supports the Solidarity Lanes initiative. In addition, the project will improve the access of remote communities to major transportation routes, as well as enhance investment activity in these communities due to increased traffic on the repaired and extended roads.
