Description (EN):

The main goals of the project are the creation of a shared, one-stop digital repository of cultural artifacts and services, and the design and provision of mobile applications and services both for citizens with cultural interests and for cultural heritage tourists in the cross border region. The project objectives are: - to build a network of cooperation between cultural institutions, municipal authorities, citizens and entrepreneurs in the tourism sector in the cross-border area; - to build a common repository of digital cultural content of the cross-border area that from the user’s viewpoint appears as one; - to provide mobile services for citizens with cultural interest and cultural heritage tourists. - To stimulate the cultural exchanges in the cross-border area via the implementation of joint cultural events; - To foster the cultural dialogue that will result in the awareness raising among citizens regarding the common cultural identity of the region; - To build capacities among local stakeholders (municipal staff, cultural institutions staff, entrepreuners in the tourism sector, civil society organizations' members) regarding the exploitation of ICT technologies and the opportunities for local development arising from joint cultural events.

Expected Results (EN):

The project envisages a set of innovative actions and the creation of a joint partnership for the preservation of local resources through the promotion of cultural tourism. The implementation of the project will conclude to the creation of a single cross-border cultural tourism destination and a complete strategy for the preservation, management and promotion of the natural resources of the Cross-border Area. As described in detail the Project is focused in areas with rich cultural heritage and aims at the development of cultural tourism, setting as primary priority the protection, the effective management and the promotion of these areas with principles of sustainable development. The project will be developed and implemented according to strategic studies and research related to the promotion and development of cultural tourism in the area thus ensuring the quality of the expected results. This project will lead to some tangible and measurable results such as: 1. growth of the number of tourists per year by 20% for both regions, 2. more informed cultural tourists by 60% via innovative tools The project is highly innovative and uses rather modern methods to ensure the participation and the mobilization of the Public. Some of the innovative tools which are parts of the programme include • The WEB Portal with Web 2.0 technologies to promote the participation of the public • Touristic GIS application integrated to the WEB portal. As a conclusion, we should note that the project caters for a significant upgrade of the quality of life and the protection and promotion of cultural heritage in the CBC area.
