Description (EN):

The objective of the project is to foster development and stabilisation of Latgale and Ignalina region by ensuring cross-border activities on regional level. Activities are aimed at facilitating export, investments and promoting cooperation of business with science. Project includes joint business support activities fostering business in project territory: several technology workshops, seminars, training, experience exchange trips, participation in exhibitions and Business Forum. During the project a B.A. level programme called „Culture and Business Relations in Eastern Europe” and an M.A. programme in business administration and project management for business students will be elaborated. Project partners will develop a joint feasibility study on investment sites and create a joint data base. Forty investment opportunities will be studied and four investment sites will be selected for an international marketing campaign. Currently documents for public procurement of business and science-related infrastructure are being prepared. Tender includes renovation of 70 m2 Daugavpils University lecture hall and building of research centre with video conferencing equipment. The goal of the first technology workshop was to bring entrepreneurs and representatives of municipalities together in Daugavpils University to present them with possibilities for further cooperation between science and business. Participants of the workshop had an opportunity to visit Institute of Systematic Biology and G. Liberts' Innovative Microscopy Centre of Daugavpils University. They were also informed of activities and services (material analysis, x-ray structural analysis, electron and laser microscopy, DNA analysis, etc.) provided there. Representatives of Daugavpils University Department of Chemistry and Geography offered a demonstration of fluorescence and informed about the chemical analysis services.

Achievements (EN):

Organized 10 workshops for 185 school sport teachers;194 trainings for rugby teams, Joint Sport Competition "Sun Cup" for 2159 participants, printed brochures and prepared promotional materials, the Action Plan for Partners to continue the Competitions, Joint Sport Competition Regulation prepared, 1 training program for teaching Touch Rugby, 2 schools equipped with modern teaching tools,
