TRAILS nace para ofrecer soluciones efectivas al gran déficit de multimodalidad y cuota ferroviaria en el transporte de mercancías en la frontera franco-española de la Jonquera (corredor mediterráneo). Ello genera unos volúmenes de emisión de CO2 insostenibles y unos niveles de saturación de tráfico rodado muy altos. Para satisfacer ambas necesidades (incremento de enlaces y servicios transfronterizos y reducción de las emisiones), TRAILS se ofrece como ventana única transfronteriza permanente para encontrar soluciones multimodales a las necesidades logísticas de la economía catalana, de Pyrénées-Orientales y de Occitania con una estrategia de cooperación entre los distintos operadores, cargadores, y empresas de transporte de ambos lados de la frontera. El objetivo final del proyecto es el de facilitar la identificación de nuevas rutas de transporte transnacional ferroviarias, tanto en mejora de la oferta como en número de enlaces y ofrecer apoyo efectivo a la consolidación del transporte de mercancías para servicios multi-cliente y multi-producto entre los dos países, consiguiendo cargas completas en los viajes de vuelta y la confluencia entre los requisitos de la carga y la oferta de servicios multimodales. Paralelamente, se trabajará para conseguir una mayor interoperabilidad de las infraestructuras ferroviarias, así como procurar acercar las estrategias de planificación de infraestructuras logísticas y servicios de apoyo a la multimodalidad de Catalunya y Occitania.

TRAILS naît du besoin d’offrir des solutions au grand déficit de multimodalité et de fret ferroviaire pour le transport de marchandises à la frontière franco-espagnole de la Jonquera (couloir méditerranéen). Entrainant, des volumes d’émissions de CO2 excessifs et des niveaux de saturation du trafic routier très élevés. Afin de satisfaire ces deux besoins (hausse de l’offre de services transfrontaliers et réduction des émissions), TRAILS se présente comme guichet unique transfrontalier permanent offrant des solutions multimodales aux besoins logistiques de l’économie catalane, des Pyrénées Orientales et d'Occitanie avec une stratégie de coopération entre les différents opérateurs, chargeurs et entreprises de transport des deux côtés de la frontière. Le but final de ce projet est de faciliter l’identification de nouvelles routes ferroviaires de transport transnationales, tant dans l’amélioration de l’offre que dans le nombre de connexions, et d’offrir un soutien efficace à la consolidation du transport de marchandises pour des services multi-client et multiproduit entre les deux pays, obtenant des charges complètes dans les voyages de retour et la confluence entre les critères du chargement et l’offre de services multimodaux. En parallèle, nous allons travailler pour atteindre une plus grande interopérabilité des infrastructures ferroviaires afin de mettre en place la planification des stratégies logistiques et des services multimodaux de Catalogne et d’Occitanie.

Description (EN):

TRAILS comes to offer effective solutions to address the great deficits in multi-modality and railway use in freight transport across the French-Spanish border in La Jonquera (Mediterranean corridor). This generates unsustainable CO2 emissions and leads to high levels of road traffic saturation. In order to address both needs (increasing the number of links and cross-border services, as well as reducing emissions), TRAILS wishes to serve as a permanent cross-border one-stop shop to identify multi-modal solutions to the logistic needs of the economies of Catalonia, Pyrénées-Orientales, and Occitanie through a cooperation strategy between operators, shippers and transport companies on both sides of the border. The ultimate goal is to facilitate the identification of new trans-national railway freight routes, through a better supply, an increase of the number of links, and an effective support to the consolidation of multi-client, multi-product freight transport between both territories, achieving complete loads in return trips and the convergence between load requirements and the supply of multi-modal services. At the same time, the project will contribute to a greater interoperability of railway transport infrastructures, and to the rapprochement between the Catalan and the Occitan planning strategies for logistic infrastructures and multimodal support services.
