Raised bogs, as a unique site in Europe, situated in the Polish-Slovak borderland, require special attention and measures in order to enhance their sustainable use through common protection and by making them accessible to tourists and the local population. As part of the project, two cross-border partners with adequate potential, experience and competence will implement a forerunner idea related to the protection and sharing of the bogs. For the first time, two natural museums with multimedia exhibitions of the bogs will be created in the Polish-Slovak borderland. Both museums will be housed in two cultural heritage buildings, restored and modernised as part of the project: the wooden historic building in the centre of Chochołów (right next to the border), whose traditional architecture is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the presbytery building located in the courtyard of the Orava Castle (near the border). In this way, one project will combine the restoration of the former glory of historical buildings and their adaptation for the purposes of promoting the natural heritage. The LP will build 2 sections of pedestrian and bicycle paths (3,68 km in length). They will open access to the bogs, where resting places for cyclists will be located, with equipment and information boards (one of these resting places will be a restored narrow-gauge railway carriage). This will allow target groups to learn about another aspect of the bogs, namely peat extraction. Investment activities will be accompanied by diverse promotion and information activities, which will disseminate knowledge on cross-border bogs (website, publications, films, competitions, workshops). As a result, a comprehensive Polish-Slovak tourism product related to the bogs will be created, considerably increasing the attractiveness of the borderland. This will make it possible for local population and tourists to discover and appreciate the bogs: a Polish-Slovak natural phenomenon, unheard of in the mountain regions in the whole of Europe.

Torfowiska wysokie jako europejski unikat przyrodniczy na polsko-słowackim pograniczu wymagają szczególnego zainteresowania i podjęcia działań, które pozwolą na zwiększenie zrównoważonego wykorzystania torfowisk poprzez wspólną ochronę oraz udostępnianie ich turystom i mieszkańcom. W ramach projektu dwaj transgraniczni partnerzy posiadający odpowiedni potencjał i doświadczenie oraz kompetencje zrealizują prekursorski pomysł dotyczący ochrony i udostępnienia torfowisk. Po raz pierwszy na PL-SK pograniczu powstaną 2 muzea przyrodnicze z multimedialnymi ekspozycjami torfowisk. Oba te muzea zostaną umieszczone w odnowionych i zmodernizowanych w ramach projektu 2 obiektach dziedzictwa kulturowego - drewnianym historycznym budynku w centrum miejscowości Chochołów (tuż przy granicy), której tradycyjna zabudowa jest wpisana na Listę Światowego Dziedzictwa UNESCO oraz budynku plebanii na dziedzińcu Zamku Orawskiego (niedaleko od granicy). W ten sposób w jednym projekcie połączone zostanie przywrócenie dawnej świetności historycznym budynkom z ich adaptacją na cele upowszechniania dziedzictwa przyrod. PW wykona 2 odcinki ścieżek pieszo-rowerowych (dług. 3,68 km). Pozwolą one dotrzeć do torfowisk, gdzie zlokalizowane zostaną dwa miejsca odpoczynku dla rowerzystów z wyposażeniem i tablicami informacyjnymi o torfowiskach (jednym z miejsc odpoczynku będzie odrestaurowany wagon kolejki wąskotorowej). Da to możliwość zapoznania się przez grupy docelowe z kolejnym aspektem torfowisk, jakim jest wydobywanie torfu. Działaniom inwestycyjnym towarzyszą różnorodne działania promocyjno-informacyjne, które upowszechnią wiedzę o transgranicznych torfowiskach (strona internetowa, publikacje, filmy, konkurs, warsztaty). W efekcie powstaje kompleksowy polsko-słowacki produkt turystyczny związany z torfowiskami, który w zdecydowany sposób zwiększa atrakcyjność pogranicza. Umożliwi on mieszkańcom oraz turystom poznanie i docenienie torfowisk: PL-SK fenomenu przyrodniczego, który nie ma precedensu w terenach górskich całej Europy.

Vrchoviskové rašeliniská ako európsky prírodný unikát na PL-SK pohraničí si zaslúžia zvláštnu pozornosť a prijatie aktivít umožňujúcich zintenzívniť udržateľné využívanie vrchoviskových rašelinísk ich spoločnou ochranou a sprístupnením turistom a obyvateľom. V projekte zrealizujú dvaja cezhraniční partneri s vhodným potenciálom, skúsenosťami a kompetenciami priekopnícku myšlienku ochrany a sprístupnenia rašelinísk. Po prvýkrát vzniknú na PL-SK pohraničí 2 prírodovedné múzeá s multimediálnymi expozíciami venovanými rašeliniskám. Múzeá budú umiestnené vo 2 objektoch kultúrneho dedičstva, rekonštruovaných a modernizovaných v rámci projektu–v drevenej historickej budove v centre obce Chochołów (v blízkosti hranícy), ktorej tradičná zástavba je zapísaná do Zoznamu svetového dedičstva UNESCO, a vo fare na nádvorí Oravského hradu (neďaleko od hranícy). Vďaka tomu bude v projekte prepojené obnovenie dávneho lesku historickým budovám s ich upravením na účely propagácie prírodného dedičstva. S cieľom umožniť priame poznanie rašelinísk zrealizuje obec Cz.Dunajec 2 úseky cyklistických náučných chodníkov (dĺ. 3,68km), ktoré umožnia návštevu rašelinísk, kde budú 2 miesta oddychu pre cyklistov s potrebným zázemím a infotabuľami o rašeliniskách (jedným z miest oddychu na rašelinisku bude obnovený vagón úzkorozchodnej železnice). Vďaka tomu sa budú môcť cieľové skupiny oboznámiť s ďalším aspektom rašelinísk, akým je ťažba rašeliny. Investície budú sprevádzať rôzne propagačné a informačné aktivity (internetová stranka, publikacie, filmy, suťaž, tvorive dielne), ktoré umožnia šíriť informácie o cezhraničných komplexoch rašelinísk. Všetky tieto aktivity boli naplánované tak, aby vznikol komplexný PL-SK turistický produkt súvisiaci s prírodnými rašeliniskami, čo rozhodne zatraktívni pohraničie. Umožní to obyvateľom a návštevníkom na pohraničí poznať a oceniť tento PL-SK prírodný jav, unikátny v horských oblastiach celej Európy.

Achievements (EN):

The project created two multimedia museums of peat bogs of the Polish-Slovak borderland in renovated and modernised historic buildings in Chochołów and Orava Podzamcz. The museums created are a basic element of the cross-border tourist product associated with the protection and provision of peat bogs of the Polish-Slovak borderland. Educational walking-bike trails were built and marked, which are a continuation of the cross-border Historical, Cultural and Natural Route around the Tatras. A bicycle path leading from the Trail around the Tatra Mountains to the historic narrow-gauge railway on the peat bog was also marked and marked. In two parking places with an information and educational function (including one special one — which is the restored original narrow-gauge railway wagon from 100 years ago from the Austro-Hungarian railway period), conditions were created to explore the area of peat bogs and to familiarise themselves with various aspects of their functioning thanks to the information boards.

Achievements (PL):

W ramach projektu utworzono dwa multimedialne muzea torfowisk pogranicza polsko-słowackiego w odnowionych i zmodernizowanych obiektach zabytkowych w Chochołowie i Orawskim Podzamczu. Powstałe muzea stanowią podstawowy element transgranicznego produktu turystycznego związanego z ochroną i udostępnianiem torfowisk polsko-słowackiego pogranicza. Wybudowano i oznakowano edukacyjne ścieżki pieszo-rowerowe, które stanowią kontynuację transgranicznego Historyczno-kulturowo-przyrodniczego Szlaku wokół Tatr. Wytyczono i oznakowano także ścieżkę rowerową prowadzącą ze Szlaku wokół Tatr do zabytkowego wagonika kolejki wąskotorowej na torfowisku. W dwóch miejscach postojowych z funkcją informacyjno-edukacyjną (w tym jednym specjalnym - którym jest odrestaurowany oryginalny wagon kolejki wąskotorowej sprzed 100 lat z okresu kolei austro-węgierskiej) stworzone zostały warunki do poznawania obszaru torfowisk oraz zapoznawania się z różnymi aspektami ich funkcjonowania dzięki zamieszczonym tablicom informacyjnym.
