Description (EN):

The project consists of a joint research activity (Veneto-Salzburg) in order to define, develop and test new “design concepts” of products and services for ageing people. Its main scope is to provide in the near future suitable tools to improve and preserve health and wellness of elderly people and to safeguard them from physical and psychological problems. Such new future tools smartly integrate existing technologies at affordable prices, are deeply interconnected and easily wearable. They facilitate home assistance and the monitoring of physical activities inside and outside home perimeter in a friendly way, integrated with the clothing, becoming tools that looks like ornamental objects. They collect and anage a lot of physical and behavioural data and at the same time monitor a lot of conditions of the environment where elderly person is staying or passing. The project foresees the joint definition of the objectives of 4 research lines, the analysis of the differences and compatibility of the research results when exploited in Italy and in Austria, the 'implementation of the research and the production of 4 " design concept”, a demonstrative check on a panel of end-users, the final characterization and the evaluation of forms and methods for the continuation of the search. The project will be an opportunity to start a new phase of crossborder joint research activity in an area of high local demand and future high development chances.

Das Projekt besteht aus einer gemeinsamen Forschungsarbeit (Veneto-Salzburg) mit dem Ziel, neue "Design Konzepte" von Produkten und Dienstleistungen für alternde Menschen zu definieren, zu entwickeln und zu testen. Hauptzweck ist es, in naher Zukunft Instrumente bereitzustellen, die die Gesundheit und das Wohlergehen älterer Menschen verbessern und bewahren und sie vor vorzeitigen körperlichen und psychischen Problemen schützen. Diese neuen künftigen Instrumente integrieren die bestehenden Technologien intelligent zu erschwinglichen Preisen, sind tief miteinander verbunden und sehr tragbar, erleichtern die häusliche Pflege und die Überwachung der körperlichen Aktivitäten innerhalb und außerhalb des häuslichen Bereichs und sind mit der Kleidung integriert, sodass sie fast zu dekorativen Gegenständen werden. Das Projekt sieht die gemeinsame Zieldefinition von 4 Forschungslinien vor, die Analyse von Unterschieden und Kompatibilität, die die Forschungsergebnisse aufweisen müssen, um in Italien und Österreich umsetzbar zu sein, die Umsetzung der Forschungsarbeit und die Erstellung von 4 „Design Konzepten“, eine demonstrative Überprüfung an einer Gruppe von Endnutzern, die Charakterisierung der Reproduzierbarkeit und die Auswertung von Formen und Methoden für die Forschungsfortsetzung. Das Projekt ermöglicht den Start einer neuen Phase der grenzüberschreitenden Forschung in einem Bereich mit hoher lokaler Nachfrage und hohem Potenzial für die künftige Entwicklung.

Il progetto consiste in un’attività congiunta di ricerca (Veneto-Salisburgo) finalizzata a definire, sviluppare e testare nuovi “design concept” di prodotti e servizi per persone che invecchiano. Il suo scopo principale è di rendere possibili nel prossimo futuro strumenti in grado di migliorare e preservare la salute ed il benessere degli anziani, salvaguardandoli dal sopraggiungere precoce di problemi fisici e psicologici. Tali nuovi futuri strumenti integrano in maniera intelligente tecnologie esistenti, a prezzi accessibili e sono profondamente interconnessi e vestibili. Essi facilitano l’assistenza domiciliare ed il monitoraggio di attività fisiche dentro e fuori il perimetro di casa in maniera facile, integrati con l’abbigliamento, tali da diventare perfino degli oggetti ornamentali. Il progetto prevede la definizione congiunta degli obiettivi di 4 linee di ricerca, l’analisi delle differenze e compatibilità che i risultati della ricerca devono presentare per funzionare in Italia ed in Austria, l’implementazione dell’attività di ricerca e la produzione di 4 “ design concept”, un check dimostrativo su un panel di utenti finali, la caratterizzazione di riproducibilità e la valutazione di forme e metodi per la continuazione della ricerca. Il progetto sarà un’opportunità per avviare una nuova fase di ricerca transfrontaliera in un’area caratterizzata da alta domanda locale e con elevate possibilità di sviluppo futuro.

Expected Results (DE):

Die Projektaktionen sind eine konkrete Antwort auf manche Herausforderungen und Notwendigkeiten des Programmbereichs, der sich durch einen starken Background sowie F&E- und Innovationspotenzial auszeichnet. Aber auch durch wenig fruchtbare Verbindungen zwischen Forschungszentren, der Wirtschaft und den Institutionen. Außerdem ist der Bereich durch einen steigenden Alterungsindex der Bevölkerung gekennzeichnet und gleichzeitig durch eine schrumpfende jüngere Generation. Das stetige Ansteigen der Lebenserwartung wird zwangsläufig in den kommenden 20 Jahren zu tiefgreifenden gesellschaftlichen Veränderungen führen, die die Notwendigkeit innovativer Dienstleistungen für ältere Menschen mit sich bringen. Diese konzentrieren sich auf den Erhalt der Unabhängigkeit, der persönlichen Autonomie auch im eigenen Heim und die Verbesserung des Wohlergehens im Allgemeinen. In diesem Zusammenhang entstehen neue Bedürfnisse: nach verstärkter grenzüberschreitender Zusammenarbeit der Handlungsträger in Innovation und Forschung, um die Verbreitung und Fragmentierung auf unterschiedlichen Gebieten zu vermeiden und die spezialisierten Spitzenkompetenzen zu fördern; die Einbeziehung der Unternehmensstrukturen in den Innovations- und Kapitalisierungsprozess; die Fähigkeit der Verwaltungsbehörden, eine günstige Entwicklungsumgebung zu schaffen. Das Projekt möchte daher: den Beitrag der neuen Technologien aufwerten (tragbare Sensorsysteme, Techniklösungen für die Vorbeugung und die Überwachung der Körperfunktionen sowie der Umgebung, Interaction Design-Lösungen, die user-centered zum Einsatz kommen und die Vertrautheit, Annehmlichkeit und eine positive Auswirkung auf das Alltagsleben hervorheben, etc.) um den Selbständigkeitsradius älterer Menschen zu erweitern; das Projekt will den Prozess des Älterwerdens aktiv begleiten und durch eine direkte Lebensstilkontrolle und stete Ermunterung zu einem aktiven Leben im Vollbesitz aller Kräfte auf den Erhalt des bestmöglichen Gesundheitszustämde.

Le azioni progettuali rappresentano una risposta concreta ad alcune sfide e necessità dell'area di Programma caratterizzato da un forte background e potenziale di R&S e innovazione ma anche dalla debolezza di collegamenti di successo tra centri di ricerca, mondo dell’impresa e quello istituzionale. L’area è, inoltre, caratterizzata da un crescente indice di vecchiaia della popolazione e, nel contempo, una decrescita delle giovani generazioni. Il costante aumento dell’aspettativa di vita porteranno necessariamente nei prossimi 20 anni a profondi mutamenti sociali che comporteranno la necessità di servizi innovativi rivolti alla terza età, focalizzati al mantenimento dell’indipendenza, autonomia personale ed abitativa e miglioramento del benessere in generale. In tale contesto emergono alcuni bisogni: il rafforzamento della cooperazione transfrontaliera degli attori dell’innovazione e ricerca al fine di evitare la proliferazione e frammentazione di iniziative sui diversi territori favorendo le eccellenze di specializzazione; il coinvolgimento del tessuto imprenditoriale nel processo di innovazione e capitalizzazione; la capacità delle amministrazioni di creare un ambiente abilitante. Il progetto intende: - valorizzare l'apporto delle nuove tecnologie (sensoristica indossabile, soluzioni tecnologiche a supporto della prevenzione e monitoraggio fisiologico e ambientale, soluzioni di Interaction Design progettate in ottica user-centered valorizzando la familiarità, gradevolezza e impatto positivo sulla vita di ogni giorno, etc.) per ampliare i margini di autonomia delle persone anziane. - promuovere l’invecchiamento assicurando un approccio preventivo. Il progetto si propone di accompagnare il processo di invecchiamento in maniera attiva i.e. puntando al mantenimento dello stato ottimo di salute dell’anziano attraverso un’azione di controllo diretta del suo stile di vita ed uno stimolo costante ad un livello di vita attivo al massimo delle sue potenzialità.
