Description (EN):

The NSR contains 22 million houses built in 1950-1985 that cause 79 Mton CO2 emissions annually. Current deep retrofit home renovations are carried out on a limited-scale production and only applied in small projects with two consequences:Renovation costs are way too highPace of renovation is far too lowMass uptake of home renovations towards energy-neutral in the NSR need to meet EU energy and climate objectives. The building sector in Europe is not creating the necessary production facilities. The INDU-ZERO solution for this is to develop a blueprint for a production facility, based on Smart Industry and Circular Economy, that can produce NSR wide suitable renovation packages at a high volume (15.000 units/year) at low cost (50% of current price).This blueprint and the project adoption activities together, will lead investors and governments to commence the needed factory development. This and the 50% cost reduction in renovation packages will lead to a mass market uptake of home renovation packages towards energy-neutral and will ultimately reduce the environmental footprint of the NSR significantly and meet the EU energy and climate objectives.The NSR building sector will be boosted by opening the market for deep retrofit renovation packages worth €880 billion.The consortium consists of industry, government and knowledge institutes. This transnational collaboration is needed to combine all necessary knowledge/experience and to guarantee adoption of the project results.

Achievements (EN):

The construction industry is still a very conservative industry which has not changed much over the last decades. By failing to do so, the much needed speed to renovate homes has not been achieved yet and prices are rising continously. The need for energy savings has not been more urgent, with energy prices rising sky high. Currently families are facing more and more energy poverty and the numbers are increasing rapidy. This is why industrial solutions in the renovation sector is highly needed.INDU-ZEROhas proven to be a real game changer in the renovation sector. INDU-ZERO has shown in great detail how a future Smart Renovation Proces should look like. By working out detailed information on for example logistics, product development, production process development, factory layout and the on-site mounting process of terraced houses and appartment buildings, INDU-ZERO not only worked out every detail of the total proces, but also proofed with in-depth calculations that there is a health business case available. By looking at the total renovation process and automizing it, INDU-ZERO achieved a 50% cost reduction of the total renovation costs. All results are freely available on the INDU-ZERO website, the extend blueprint, and can be picked up by industries, constructors, investors and big home owners. INDU-ZERO has set the scene for an new area of industialized renovations towards affordable energy efficient homes. The realisation of the European Green House Gas emission goal in 2050 has come a step closer, thanks to INDU-ZERO.
