One of the most important source of traditional culture in cross border area Romania Bulgaria , unknown and undiscovered yet, is Rroma culture. Unfortunately, in this space were conducted only few studies about the culture of this minority and to our knowledge, until now, it wasn’t elaborated a common strategy about the valorisation of this culture in touristic products. All people agree that Rroma ethnicity has a spectacular culture with beautiful songs, dances, stories and more, but nobody saw in these traditional “treasures” any possibility to realise sustainable touristic products and to promote this region. It is time to reinterpret the traditional culture of Rroma ethnicity and to put on cross border map new challenges for tourists. The overall objective of the project is to improve the sustainable use of cultural heritage through valorisation of the traditional Rroma culture in touristic products. Through “Discover Rroma treasures!” the studies which will present the main branches of Rroma culture and the specific characteristics of each branch will be elaborated. The information from studies will be used for the elaboration of the common strategy „Valorisation of Rroma culture from cross border area in touristic products”which will identify the common routes in project area (Dolj and Mehedinti counties in Romania and Vidin, Montana districts in Bulgaria) for Rroma culture and will propose methods for valorisation of these traditional “treasures”..In this regard, other touristic events will be ”build” on these routes. : 4 Rroma Culture Festivals ”Enjoy the Rroma culture ”, 2 Cross border Caravans ”Discover Rroma treasures!”, 4 workshops ”Learn about the Rroma culture”. This project was designed to contribute to the achieving of the programme indicators: It will be created 2 integrated tourism products through:creation of at least 4 common Rroma cultural routes , which will be established through common strategy and 4 Rroma Culture Festivals ”Enjoy the Rroma culture ” will be organized in project area, with traditional creators of Rroma culture from Romania and Bulgaria. The common strategy “Valorisation of Rroma culture from cross border area in touristic products” will be elaborated on base of studies . Through this common strategy the common routes in cross border area for Rroma culture will be identified and methods for valorisation of these traditional “treasures” in touristic products will be proposed. Regarding the result indicator of Priority Axis 2 , through “Discover Rroma treasures!” project, we expect in encouragement of 1000 overnights in project area as a result of implementation activities project. The project “Discover Rroma treasures!” must be “build” in cross border approach because in this Danubian area it is very current the motto of the European Union “United in Diversity”. The people of both sides of Danube, minorities or not, have a lot of cultural characteristics in common but in the same time they are different through specific customs or crafts or so on. An important part of this cross border culture is Rroma culture which is very spectacular and rich, but unfortunately, is unknown and undiscovered. On this line, the project “Discover Rroma treasures!” proposes, through following activities, discover and valorization this spectacular culture in touristic products. A1- “Study regarding the branches of traditional Rroma culture”. It will be elaborated 4 studies, one for each county or district from project area (Dolj and Mehedinţi in Romania, Vdin and Montana in Bulgaria). Each study will identify in detail all the branches of traditional Rroma culture from those areas. A2- The common strategy “Valorisation of Rroma culture from cross border area in touristic products” will be elaborated on base of studies . Through this common strategy the common routes in cross border project area for Rroma culture will be identified and methods for valorisation of these traditional “treasures” in touristic products will be proposed. A3- 4 Corners for the promotion Rroma culture. In each county and district from project area, on one of the routes, in localities with tradition in Rroma culture, These corners which will be a real places for promotion Rroma culture will be arranged, with the support of authorities. A4- 2 Cross border Caravans *Discover Rroma treasures!*. These Caravans will be organized for 4 days and will cover the most important points of traditional Rroma culture from the common routes with a view to promoting the most representative creations from Rroma culture . One of the caravans will be for journalists, bloggers, tour operators and representatives of tourism NGO and the others will be open for all the people interested from Rroma culture. A5-4 workshops *Learn about the Rroma culture* for children. Each workshop will be organized in each county or district from project area, in the representatives places for Rroma culture. During these events the childrens will learn to dance, sing or to make objects with the Rroma creators and will be able to understand and valorise the Rroma cultura. A6-4 Rroma Culture Festivals *Enjoy the Rroma culture* will be organized in each county/district from project area and will have a large visibility. The most famous Rroma singers, dancers, and craftsmen from project regions will be invited at these festivals . These events will be a spectacular fiesta of Rroma culture and may attract a lot of tourists and spectators. A7-Participation at 2 Tourism Fairs. The touristic products from this project will be promoted at 2 Tourism fairs. In this regard, the project team members will accompany at these events the representatives of Rroma culture which will try ”to sell” their creations. A8-For promotion of these touristic products it will be a promotional campaign which will contain various promotional tools: press conferences in each county or district, project website, an application for cellphone which will locate all the routes, information and promotion corners, creators and artists, promotional movie and album with the common routes, media campaign (tv and radio spot, press releases), flyers, roll-ups. A9-The project management 8 team meetings will be held in project area in order to implement activities more efficiently and achieve maximum results. This project is original because, for first time, the Rroma culture will be regarded as a valuable culture, able to offer the touristic products through traditional creations, which could develop the project area. In addition, through the activities of the project, the Rroma ethnicity will be valued and the phenomenon of discrimination of this ethnicity. will be reduced. The indicative budget of this project is 425.000 euro.

Achievements (EN):

The project implementation period ended on 29.02.2020and the following objectives have been achieved: Studies regarding the branches of traditional Rroma culture (for districts Dolj and Mehedinti in RO and Montana and Vidin in BG), were developed. LB developed a Strategy, identifying common routes in cross border project area for Rroma culture and methods for their valorisation in touristic products. The Strategy is accessible here: https://rromatreasures.eu/ro/produsele-proiectului/strategie/ . Each beneficiary purchased the equipment for the corners : CBAEE (LP) arranged 2 corners, for Dolj and Mehedinţi counties, RPSD - Vidin (PP2) arranged 1 corner for Vidin district and RDA&BC 2000 (PP3) arrange 1 corner for Montana district. The 4 Corners culture were arranged in each county and district from project area to increase continuously the interest over the main project results and documents developed and over the Rroma culture and cultural habits. The Project web site is available @ https://rromatreasures.eu/ . Further on, a smart application for cell phone was developed by the LB by gathering the information also from the other partners. The application is very useful for the tourists because the many information regarding the project area and its friendly structure. The smart application is elaborated in Romanian, English and Bulgarian and can be downloaded and used for free from Google Play or App Store, through the name: rromatreasures. Furthermore, the project beneficiaries have performed all main events foreseen as for example: two workshops from total 4 named “Learn about the Rroma culture” for children performed in October and November 2019 and two Caravans dedicated on discovering the Rroma treasures within the cross – border region. In addition, four Rroma Culture Festivals “Enjoy the Rroma culture” were performed. It generated various number of participants and interest on them. As a part from the information and publicity measures implemented by the project are the elaboration of one 50 minutes movie, which include images, interviews and information gathered during the project events. The film was in process of elaboration. In addition, during the project events, 600 professional pictures were made - 300 in Romanian project area and 300 in Bulgarian project area. Further, the captured pictures were transformed and included within a Catalogue providing short information about the most representative creators, traditions, events from common routes identified. Further and not the last, the LB team participated to the National Tourism Fair of Romania - Romexpo, in Bucuresti in period 13-16.11.2019. Also, the rroma culture from project area was represented by rroma dancers. In the forum, were presented the rroma culture of the project target region. B2 rent a stand and participated at the International Tourism Fair in Sofia, organized between 13-16.02.2020. LB and B3 team members participated to this event, promoting the project activities, results and distributing project promotional catalogues. Also, during the Fair participated the rroma dancers and artisans from the cross-border area, covered by the project. Regarding the achieved results produced following the project implementation and contributing to the Result indicator at Programme level “Number of tourist overnights in the CBC region”, through the organization of all types of project events, the project granted a contribution from 1172 overnights.

Through this common strategy the common routes in cross border area (2 counties in Romania and 2 districts in Bulgaria) for Rroma culture will be identified and methods for valorisation of these traditional “treasures” in touristic products will be proposed .
