Comment le tourisme de croisière peut accroître les retombées économiques dans les régions côtières, tout en réduisant son impact négatif sur l'environnement?Le tourisme de croisière représente une manière agréable pour visiter les zones côtières, renforçant leurs économie et réputation internationale.Face aux besoins d’augmenter les revenus par le tourisme de croisière et la nécessité de préserver les atouts naturels, les villes doivent développer des solutions de transport à faible émission de CO2 et intermodale.L’objectif de LOCATIONS est de supporter les administrations publiques locales dans la rédaction de Plans de Transport et mobilité à Faible Émission de CO2 (PTFE) avec des mesures specifiques concernant la mobilité des passagers et marchandises, décongestionnant les villes et réduisant la production de GESUne méthodologie sera implémentée pour répondre aux besoins de mobilité spécifiques des pays concernés.Des activités modulaires favoriseront la transférabilité dans d'autres pays MED à travers des actions internationales de renforcement des compétences et apprentissage mutuel qui vont stimuler de nouveaux concepts de mobilité durable. Nouveaux PTFE seront produits et des actions de capitalisation permettrons à d’autre destinations croisières d’adopter l'approche LOCATIONS par des projets bancables.La participation des citoyens et croisiéristes est souhaitée à travers des campagnes de sensibilisation, au but d’améliorer la qualité de vie des localités visitées.

Description (EN):

How cruise tourism can increase economic benefits in coastal regions, thus reducing its negative environmental impact?Cruise tourism represents an appealing way to visit coastal areas providing a significant boost in their economy and international reputation.Facing the need to increase income from cruise tourism and to preserve territorial natural assets, cities are called to use existing low carbon transport systems and multimodal connections.LOCATIONS’ (Low Carbon Transport in Cruise Destination Cities) overall objective is to support local public administrations in drafting Low-Carbon Transport and mobility Plans (LCTPs) with measures dedicated to cruise-related passengers and freight flows, contributing to decongest the city traffic and to lower the production of greenhouse gases.A methodology will be tested to respond to specific mobility-related issues in the countries involved.The definition of modular packages will pave the way for transferability in new MED area countries by means of international capacity building actions and mutual learning activities for new sustainable mobility concepts. New LCTPs will be produced and capitalization actions will grant the involvement of a broader number of cruise destinations to adopt the LOCATIONS approach by means of bankable projects.Involvement of citizenship and cruise passengers is foreseen through raising awareness campaign, encouraging participation and responsibility in enhancing cities’ quality of life.

Achievements (EN):

A sound project management was ensured by PPs, supported by project WP Leaders and LP. For what concerns the steering of the project, the fourth project meeting took place in Durres on the 8th and 9th May 2018, pursuing the aim of presenting and discussing the finalised LCTPs as well as of laying the ground for their assessment and evaluation and launch the future capitalization module. Potential project risks were constantly assessed and monitored, while project partners contributions to risk assessment and action to counter the risks were regularly checked and evaluated by the coordinator.The cooperative collaboration with the Interreg MED Horizontal project GOSUMP culminated in the participation of project representatives in the “MADE IN MED” event, held in Rome in April, as well as in the 5th European Conference on Sustainable Urban Mobility, held in May in Nicosia, Cyprus.During the third reporting period the second round of project promotional materials - project leaflet focused on local challenges and LCTP measures along with the video rendering - , were designed and shared among partners. So far, every opportunity to promote the project in relevant events was exploited and project activities were widely promoted reaching more than 2.500.000 recipients. First project exhibitions were launched in partner cities. Regarding the project “Testing” phase, LCTPs were finalized by responsible partners and evaluated by project Evaluation Committees. By the end of the reporting period, Institutional partners started to revise their LCTP according to feedback and suggestions provided during the evaluation phase.Actions were taken within the “Transferring” phase, to consolidate results achieved in the previous “Testing” phase as well as lay the ground for the transferring of LOCATIONS methodology and solutions in new MED territories, such as: the elaboration of the LCTP evaluation methodology and criteria and the elaboration of project Modular packages. Currently LCTPs are being evaluated by project Evaluation Committee. Acknowledging the importance of the forthcoming “Capitalising” phase, partner efforts were invested in the identification of project replicators already in the third reporting period, thus to grant a smooth start-up of replication activities in the forthcoming module.
