In the German - Dutch border region a European program has been developed to strengthen cooperation between Germany and the Netherlands. This program aims to strengthen economic, social and regional cooperation. Cooperation leads to new opportunities for the border regions and alignment of policies and investments. The project Green Blue Rhine Alliance (GBRA) is used to strengthen the German - Dutch cooperation through 1. Network development and communication (39 events) Strengthen networks for professionals: 5 events; Increasing awareness through education and communication: 34 events; 2. Cross-border ecological connections (52 events) Dissolving barriers migratory routes otters: 52 pieces; 3. Joint knowledge (10 events) International Knowledge Workshops Floodplain development and nature restoration: 5 times and 5 developed cases; Knowledge Workshops International Migratory fish and otters 5 times and collective knowledge and sharing of environmental data core. The Rhine is hereby logical connection element because it already connects centuries together the regions. This connection is for people, economy, landscape, water and natural importance.

In de Duits – Nederlandse grensregio is een Europees programma ontwikkeld om de samenwerking tussen Duitsland en Nederland te versterken. Dit programma beoogt de economische, sociale en regionale samenwerking te versterken. Samenwerking leidt tot nieuwe kansen voor de grensregio’s en afstemming van het beleid en investeringen. In het project Groen Blauwe Rijn Alliantie (GBRA) wordt ingezet op het versterken van de Duits - Nederlandse samenwerking door middel van 1. Netwerkontwikkeling en communicatie (39 events) Versterken netwerken voor professionals: 5 events; Vergroten bewustwording door educatie en communicatie: 34 events; 2. Grensoverschrijdende ecologische verbindingen ( 52 events) Oplossen barrières migratieroutes otters: 52 stuks; 3. Gezamenlijke kennisontwikkeling ( 10 events) Internationale Kennis Ateliers Uitwaardontwikkeling en natuurherstel: 5 maal en 5 ontwikkelde cases; Internationale Kennis Ateliers Trekvissen en otters: 5 maal en gezamenlijke kennisontwikkeling en -deling over ecologische kerndata. De Rijn is hierbij het logische verbindende element omdat deze de gebieden al eeuwenlang met elkaar verbindt. Deze verbinding is voor mens, economie, landschap, water en natuur belangrijk.

In der deutsch–niederländischen Grenzregion ist ein europäisches Programm zur Stärkung der Zusammenarbeit zwischen Deutschland und den Niederlanden entwickelt worden. Ziel des Programms ist, die ökonomische, soziale und regionale Zusammenarbeit weiter auszubauen. Diese Zusammenarbeit bietet neue Chancen für die Grenzregionen und führt zu einer verbesserten Abstimmung untereinander bezüglich politischer Maßnahmen und Investitionen. Das Projekt Grün Blaue Rhein Allianz (GBRA) zielt auf die Stärkung der deutsch–niederländischen Zusammenarbeit mittels 1. Netzwerkentwicklung und Kommunikation (Initiativnehmer: ARK; 39 Veranstaltungen) - Netzwerk ausbauen für Professionelle: 5 Veranstaltungen; - Bewusstsein stärken durch Bildung und Kommunikation: 34 Veranstaltungen; 2. Grenzüberschreitende ökologische Verbindungen (Initiativnehmer: NZ im Kreis Kleve e.V.; 52 Veranstaltungen) Barrieren auf Migrationsrouten von Fischottern beheben: 52 Stück; 3. Gemeinsame Wissensentwicklung (Bezirksregierung Düsseldorf; 10 Veranstaltungen) - Internationale Wissenswerkstatt Auenentwicklung und Renaturierung: 5 Stück und 5 entwickelte Fälle; - Internationale Wissenswerkstatt Wanderfische und Otter: 5 Stück sowie gemeinsame Wissensentwicklung und -teilung ökologischer Kerndaten.

Achievements (EN):

THE GREEN-BLUE RHINE ALLIANCE: The Green Blue Rhine Alliance (GBRA) project was carried out in the German-Dutch border region Rhein-Waal for four years (2017-2021) as part of the European Interreg programme Germany-Nederland. 10 German and Dutch (government) organisations from nature conservation, sport fishing and water management have collaborated in the GBRA on ecological links for otters, migratory fish, floodplain development, knowledge development, environmental education and the development of a professional network. For the partners, the Rhine was a logical, connecting element for their cooperation. The Rhine has been connecting Germany and the Netherlands for centuries and is of great importance to man, economy, landscape, water and nature. Since many otters are still killed in traffic, 18 passages for otters under roads were created within the framework of the project in Germany and the Netherlands and 45 Otterholts were created as shelters. In this way, otters can move more safely. The joint monitoring provided a better insight into the spread of otters in the border area. In addition, the knowledge base for migratory fish has been expanded. In recent decades, migratory fish populations in the Rhine have continued to decline. The Netherlands and Germany have carried out joint monitoring of migratory fish and plastic in the water, tested different monitoring methods and compiled an overview of the data(banks) available in the Netherlands and Germany on migratory fish in both countries in order to facilitate the exchange of data. The partners also have the possibilities of resettling the sturgeon and the creek shell in the Rhine, as well as injured Eels studied and exposed in the Dutch Nijmegen 80,000 larvae of rare maize. The GBRA also initiated a collaboration in the field of floodplain development and restoration to learn from each other, build a specialised network and exchange knowledge about the state and renaturation of floodplains. For this purpose, various German-Dutch workshops were organised and investigations conducted. On both sides of the border, extensive communication was made about the project and were taken into nature by means of field lessons and excursions. More than 1500 school children and nearly 1700 students, professionals and other interested parties have participated in the activities of the GBRA. The project was completed on 30 June 2021. Good news is that the partners are so excited about the collaboration that they will continue it. They have sealed this intention with a cooperation agreement. DIE GRÜN-BLAUE RHEIN ALLIANZ: In der deutsch–niederländischen Grenzregion Rhein-Waal wurde – im Rahmen des europäischen Interreg-Programmes Deutschland-Nederland – vier Jahre lang (2017-2021) das Projekt Grün Blaue Rhein Allianz (GBRA) durchgeführt. 10 deutsche und niederländische (Regierungs-) Organisationen aus dem Naturschutz, der Sportfischerei und Wasserwirtschaft haben in der GBRA an ökologischen Verbindungen für Fischotter, Wanderfische, Auenentwicklung, Wissensentwicklung, Umweltbildung und der Entwicklung eines professionellen Netzwerks zusammengearbeitet. Für die Partner war der Rhein ein logisches, verbindendes Element für ihre Zusammenarbeit. Der Rhein verbindet Deutschland und die Niederlande seit Jahrhunderten und ist für Mensch, Ökonomie, Landschaft, Wasser und Natur von großer Bedeutung. Da noch viele Fischotter im Verkehr umkommen, wurden im Rahmen des Projekts in Deutschland und den Niederlanden 18 Passagen für Fischotter unter Straßen hindurch und 45 Otterholts als Unterschlupfmöglichkeiten angelegt. Auf diese Weise können Fischotter sich sicherer fortbewegen. Das gemeinsame Monitoring hat einen besseren Einblick in die Verbreitung des Fischotters im Grenzgebiet gegeben. Darüber hinaus wurde die Wissensbasis für Wanderfische erweitert. In den letzten Jahrzehnten sind die Wanderfischpopulationen im Rhein immer weiter zurückgegangen. Die Niederlande und Deutschland haben ein gemeinsames Monitoring von Wanderfischen und Plastik im Wasser durchgeführt, unterschiedliche Monitoringmethoden getestet und eine Übersicht der in den Niederlanden und Deutschland verfügbaren Daten(banken) zu Wanderfischen in beiden Ländern erstellt, um so den Datenaustausch zu erleichtern. Auch haben die Partner die Möglichkeiten der Wiederansiedlung des Störs und der Bachmuschel im Rhein, sowie verletzte Aale untersucht, und im niederländischen Nimwegen 80.000 Larven des seltenen Maifisches ausgesetzt. Im Rahmen der GBRA wurde auch eine Zusammenarbeit auf dem Gebiet von Auenentwicklung und -renaturierung initiiert, um voneinander zu lernen, ein fachspezifisches Netzwerk aufzubauen und Kenntnisse bezüglich des Zustands und der Renaturierung von Auengebieten auszutauschen. Zu diesem Zweck wurden verschiedene deutsch-niederländische Workshops organisiert und Untersuchungen durchgeführt. Auf beiden Seiten der Grenze wurde ausführlich über das Projekt kommuniziert und wurden Jung und Alt mittels Feldunterricht und Exkursionen mit hinaus in die Natur genommen. Mehr als 1500 Schulkinder und fast 1700 Studenten, Fachleute und andere Interessierte haben an den Aktivitäten der GBRA teilgenommen. Das Projekt wurde am 30. Juni 2021 abgeschlossen. Eine gute Nachricht ist, dass die Partner so von der Zusammenarbeit begeistert sind, dass sie diese fortsetzen werden. Diese Absicht haben sie mit einer Kooperationsvereinbarung besiegelt.
